RiderFan
Wings closing isn't all that much of a loss. Besides, Vancouver still (well, the GVA) has more hobby shops per capita than any other city in the country. The city with the best weather has the most shops for an indoor hobby... Now if Dave shut down Burnaby Hobbies, or Imperial were to close their doors, then there'd be a problem. But there are 7 shops I can think of off the top of my head that I would go to before wings. I won't dispute your remarks about Wing's but I feel the more shops would result in better selection. VanHobbies, Bluemountain and Granville Hobbies to name just a few that have closed within the decade. Imperial nor Burnaby, though great shops, don't carry consignment kits that usually produce some gems from the past at well below ebay prices. Because of point I just made, I feel that another shop be it small or large closing down is a loss to the modelling community.

I am saddened to see the shop close it's doors as we have lst several in the GVA already. It would appear that it isn't easy to make it in the hobby business anymore. The best place to go for second hand/consignment kits is Cameo hobbies in Maple Ridge. I was in there yesterday and they have a ton of second hand kits in stock. The_Animal
When I used to "gather" kits...I used to go to Magic Box or to Burnaby Hobbies to occasionally bug Dave. When Three Floors was open, I used to go down there quite often...even more so when I lived in New West. Now there really isn't a place for scale models anywhere in the Surrey area...but it frankly doesn't bother me as much because I'm more into photography than scale modeling. Maybe one of these days, I'll complete the kits that I currently have, but right now, I'm hell-bent on getting this photography to produce something tangible as a business. Actually, a pretty substantial collection of them.
aerofan
Thanks for the tip on Cameo in Maple Ridge. Is there anyother shops in the area as making a trip out there for just one hobbyshop would be a waste of time for me. Also any idea of the pricing on these second hand kits and are they more old toyish kits from the 60's and 70's? TIA. Edited December 23, 2011 by aerofan
RiderFan
There's one in maple ridge and there's Right Track (or it might be On Track) in coquitlam that is also very good. The place in Maple Ridge, I picked up a 1/32 Revell F4E for $30. And a 1/32 Revell F-104 for about $20. He has some Hasagawa kits for about $20.
