Cunumdrum61
Just got word from Hobbylink Japan that my two Saturn V's have been shipped today. So all those that are waiting for this kit, the wait will soon be over. I will post pics as soon as I get it. I plan to make one of them as Skylab with a new turned aluminum shroud. Cunumdrum61
I plan to get one. :) Keep us informed on your models and if there are some modifications to be done to the kit to make it look realistic. :) Mark, I plan on stripping both of mine and repainting them and adding custom decals to replicate Apollo 17 and Skylab. Using the Weeks drawings as reference. Presently I am designing the 1/72 scale LUT and will have the pad sections laser cut from acrylic. I want to offer this to anyone that is interested. It will be only the basic pad itself and you will have to build the tower structure yourself. I just hope Daragon have got it right with this one. If so it will sell really well. MarkD
The kit is pre built? Eh.....I like kits that the modeler can build themselves instead of the company doing it for you. I did post some photos of the real Saturn V in the other thread about the Dragon Saturn V kit. I plan to buy a 1/72 Saturn V after the recent holidays. If you are making the MLP for this kit I'd like to get one too. :) The other cool part of it is someone can also get two of them and use the other to make either the Saturn 1B pad for the later Skylab and ASTP launches or turn the tower into the shuttle FSS for the current 1/72 shuttle kit. Well there are not LC-39 kits for the Monogram shuttle stack kits. I hope someone builds such a kit for modelers to buy. if you plan to also make the Saturn V's MSS here is a link to photos and diagrams of it. http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/pao/History/SP-4204/ch13-6.html more reference for your planned MLP/ LUT http://www.capcomespace.net/dossiers/espace_US/apollo/ksc/LUT/ The ASTP LC-39 http://www.capcomespace.net/dossiers/espace_US/skylab/1970%20ML1.jpg http://www.capcomespace.net/dossiers/espace_US/skylab/1970%20ML1%20crochets.jpg Saturn V Skylab LUT conversion http://www.capcomespace.net/dossiers/espace_US/skylab/1970%20ML2.jpg ASTP LUT and the Saturn V MSS http://www.capcomespace.net/dossiers/espace_US/skylab/1970%20MSS%20skylab.jpg
