Neo
Not to be the party pooper BUT that shifter looks the wrong way around!!
Bigasshammm
No one should ever let a Cobra get that dirty.
Shawn M
lol, its a race car! Finished off the chassis, wired the motor and got the body ready for its finish coat! you can also see the air cleaner stud in this shot Edited February 3, 2012 by Shawn M
Bigasshammm
Wheres the twin blade radiator? Still loving the metal body
Shawn M
race cars usually don't have rad fans as they don't sit in traffic like their street car brethren... I too am loving the ally' body...its gonna be tough to paint.
Shawn M
Not to be the party pooper BUT that shifter looks the wrong way around!! I always think the same thing Neo! When you see how far aft the shift tower is on the 'tranny it makes sense why its bent so far forwards
Bigasshammm
I didn't think the Shelby's had different rads then the street versions. Nothing beats the look of those twin fans through the front scoop! Keep it up.
Dirkpitt289
That is really coming along nicely

Shawn M
BAH, maybe we're talking about two different things? Dirk and Andy, thank you!
Bigasshammm
BAH, maybe we're talking about two different things? Dirk and Andy, thank you! No I get your logic and just never thought about it really. It doesn't make sense that the race cars would have the fans. No need when traveling at speed. Actually upon searching they're far less common then I thought. But I just love this look...
Shawn M
oh yea, if it were a street car I'd be building a twin blown super snake with two fans...and maybe a scale Bill Cosby to go with it. ;) Thats a nice replica pictured, I'd love to do a Factory Five kit, or if I won the lottery a Superformance Kit. Shawn M
finished stripping the chrome off the sprues, a fresh bottle of Chlorox makes easy work of it! No Im fitting the side pipes together, yuck what a poor assembly idea!
Shawn M
CRAP! While hollowing out one of the side pipe tips I blew a chunk of it off :( On the good side, the headers are painted and attached as are the knock off's thus completing the chassis. :)
Shawn M
ok, so after talking to BigassHam, I'm going to leave it bare aluminum as a pre-season test car. It will have the correct Shelby Cobra badging on the nose and trunk. Torn on sponsor decals though, so please voice your opinion! Bigasshammm
Maybe do the hood or something? Or side numbers? Theyd have something on it to identify it I'm sure. I like the idea though.
Shawn M
made a new side pipe portion out of some Tamiya Sprue, so that issue is fixed. Decaled the body as a different racer however. I did the markings for the 1965 Production National Champion #11 as I thought it would appear naked for testing. #11 on nose, sides and tail with 'A' group markings Left and Right. Waiting for the decal solvent to dry, then a gloss coat and on to final assembly.
Shawn M
update, no gloss will be applied! After checking on the solution progress, I noticed the glossy decals give a nice sheen over the semi gloss body. I've still got a few surprises ahead for you all stay tuned as she nears the finish line!
Shawn M
DONE DONE DONE!!!! Pics tomorrow after the last bits of glue dry.
Shawn M
to start I had t make the block off plates for the street cars windshield frame: then I had to add some holes for a hose run I noticed in some pictures: After that I made a mold of the front fender to make a mechanics fender blanket: 2 layers of red tissue soaked in water and Elmers Glue made the blanket and held the shape. The parts to finish it up and the body all decaled! Edited February 6, 2012 by Shawn M
