Falcon
Made a start on this one earlier today. I am using the Academy 1/32 F-16CG/CJ kit and the Two Bobs #32-032 'USAFE Big Mouth Vipers' decal sheet. I will post up a few pics of progress soon.
Falcon
Here are a couple of pics up to press. The kit and decal sheet. The seat and tub.
Falcon
A couple of pics of this weeks progress. The main gear bay with the ejector pin marks filled. As the Academy kit has a very noticable flaw with the intake, I decided to try and make it a bit less obvious with a little bit of surgery. After painting the interior of the intake duct, I fitted an intake blank to prevent the white interior getting grey overspray when it comes to the painting stage. Still got a bit of filling to do before fitting the intake.
dmthamade
Be interesting to see how the intake turns out. Documented sore point with the kit, be nice to see a fix.
Falcon
Here is the intake installed in place.
UKPonchoMan
That makes a heck of a difference - looks SO much better... i wonder if it would work with the 1/72 kits too?
Falcon
That makes a heck of a difference - looks SO much better... i wonder if it would work with the 1/72 kits too? Not sure Chris. Might have to try it on the 1/72 kit at some point.

Rambler
What a great idea on that intake. I'm going to steal it for sure!
Falcon
Finally got round to doing some more work on this beastie. Started this morning by getting the Viper primed and pre-shaded. I then sprayed the greys. Then even managed to get the wheels on. Thanks for looking.
Pete
Nice and smooth paintjob! Should look good with decals on it. :)
Falcon
Got round to doing the decals and weathering. The wash was done using Promodeller wash. I realized the decals on the tail and nose kinda stood out a bit more than they do on the real aircraft. This had to be corrected. I did this by spraying a light coat of the modified Gunze H306 over them. I then redid the wash. I do still have quite a bit to do to the model.
Falcon
Done even more on the Viper today and think it should be ok to go on display at tomorrows Cosford model show. I added the lights and pylons. I had to do something about the static wicks too as the kit ones kept on snapping off. I removed the remaining ones and replaced them with bristles from a decorators brush. They are a lot more flexible and won't break off. Once they were dry they were trimmed to size and painted. Pete
I like it. Nice and faded paintjob, and the static wicks look great too!

bdt13
Nice work! What blend of paints did you use for the Have Glass II scheme? I see a bit of sparkle in that finish that is a GREAT match to the real thing!
Falcon
Nice work! What blend of paints did you use for the Have Glass II scheme? I see a bit of sparkle in that finish that is a GREAT match to the real thing! The 2 tone grey 'Have Glass' paint is Gunze Sangyo H305 and H306 with Gunze silver added in stages to get the mix right. I couldn't tell you the right amount to add however as the paint was mixed over a year ago when I did my 1/48 Tamiya kit in the same scheme.
bdt13
Thanks, Falcon. I'm thinking of doing one of the Odyssey Dawn ones in 1/72 soon, so I may try your method.
Falcon
Later Have Glass Vipers do appear to be darker in colour, almost paintshop fresh with a slight metalic sheen.
Spectre711
Wow, that is something else! I might have to make some room and build me a big bird. The last 1/32 kit I built was a Revell F-15E back in the 80s.
Falcon
Made some progress with the weapons. Pics to follow.
