What in intend to build for the ghost town group build

Recommended Posts

Here is where you post what you intend to build.

For me, its a 1/48 Hasegawa F-4N using Vegabond decals for VF-84 in 1976.

1/48 Hasegawa F-4N kit decals VMFA-531

and maybe more.

Also check out our sponsors web sites, you might find suitable markings for THIS group build or for a future build.

I'll be doing a 1/72 Toko Nieuport 11 with markings for Russian WW1 ace Alexander Kazakov. He used a large skull and cross bones on the vertical stabilizer of his aircraft.

If I have time I've also got Werner Voss' Fokker triplane. He painted a scary face on the front of the cowling but I'm not sure if it would count. It kind of looks like a ghost or devil but I'm not sure what the intent was, it might just be an angry face.

1) Airfix 1/72 F4D Skyray with home-brew VMF(AW)-531 markings.

2) If I finish the Skyray I'll pull out my ollllllld Monogram F7F kit and slap on Cobra Co's sweet nightfighter conversion and apply some VMF(N)-531 markings that I was sent by some kind ARCer that were spare from their Octopus kit.

3) If a miracle occurs and I finish both of those I'll see what else is in my bag of tricks. Probably a Hasegawa F-4B in Viet Nam era VMFA-531 markings. I think I have some decals kicking around for that.

I'm going to build a J8 Gladiator of F.19, the Swedish Volunteer squadron in the Winter War. At the end of the Winter War the Finnish Insignia were overpainted with the skull & crossbones when F.19 withdrew to Sweden, this being the only occasion I'm aware of where the skull & crossbones were worn as national insignia on aircraft.

This is the kit I'd intended to build for the Arctic/Antarctic GB, but I hadn't actually got started and it's a better fit over here (and it's not like I'm lacking in options for the A/A GB, another Ilmavoimat aircraft will take its place).

Kit is the Roden 1/48 Gloster Gladiator II.

Well, Phantom reminded me that my planned F3H Demon build for Escorts would be a perfect fit for this one. So I changed that one to a Crusader. So for this one, I am going to do an OOB Hobbyboss 1/48 F3H-2 Demon in VF-61 Jolly Rogers colors. I intend to start as soon as the kit arrives in the mail (it is currently in transit). Construction will be strictly OOB as it looks like the kit will be a good one.

I'll start with the 1/72 Airfix Hawk T.1A of 100 Sqn from 2009 OOB.

IF...I still have the time, I may just build a VF-61 Jolly Rogers F9F-2 Panther in NMF using the Hasegawa kit in 1/72 scale (I plan to build this in conjunction with the Hobbyboss kit for comparison and another group build).

Let me guess, the Hobbyboss one will be done in Argentinean Navy colors, right?

Whenever I get around to it I'll be doing the 1/48 P-40N Warhawk Eduard Profipack completely with what's in the box.

Specifically P-40N "Joanne 49", 89th FS, 80th FG, Karachi India 1943

Although I may "play" with the paint a lil bit to make it meaner.

I'm in with an ancient Revell 1/72 Spad XIII with a big Reaper on the side.

FYI, Kagero's SPAD S.A1-S.VII.C1 has decals for a VII with a similar design. Perhaps the same Escadrille Spa 94 "Mort qui Fauche"?

Yep, the same Escadrille and the pilot Pierre Marinovitch is mentioned in the Osprey book Spad XII/XIII Aces.

He flew the Nieuport 24, Spad VII and Spad XIII
