ZOOMER
Hi All, I'm trying to find PWA decals in both 1/72 and 1/144 scales. I know that I'm probably dreaming, but I can't find any. Thx Cheers & Happy New Year! Zoomer
bugs3144
For what type of aircraft and what schemes? I have the old Fowler decals for the PWA with dark blue tail and cheat with red titles for the 737-200 in 1/144. Frank ATL
kinnies
Hi, I think I have a couple of 737-200 in 1/144. They are by Whiskey Jack - that guy made some of the best decals i've ever used. I might have some DC-3 too. I'll have a look. John
Litvyak
Whiskey Jack are out of print as I know, but I have their set for an overall white PWAL 737 in my stash (1/144). I also have another set, for a 1/144 B707-320C in the blue "wedge" livery. I think this is from Freight Dog but I can't remember; I ordered it online from a company in the UK. They had a few PWAL sets available. And, I'm pretty sure there are others available (DC-3, I think also DC-4 and DC-6).
rhusberg
Hi, Here is those decals for Pacific Western I have in my collection. Many where made also in other scales, as I only build widebodies in 1/200, narrowbodies down to and including DC-3 in 1/144 and everything smaller in 1/72. Sorry, none are for sale. But you should find them on ebay or similar places. ZOOMER
Thanks all!!! I'll be digging thru the list to see what I can use. I'm interested in doing an all white 737-200 in 1/144. I grew up watching these things fly over my house. I've also toyed with the idea of using the markings for a 1/144 B757 or the Revell 747-400 just for fun. :) Cheers Zoomer
RhythmDawg
Hi Old topic I know, but I'm building a 1/48 DC-3 based on the Whiskey Jack Pacific Western Airlines "Old Colours" decals (CF-PWH / CF-PWI) and am looking for red/white/silver paint recommendations. I'm thinking of using Mr Hobby Surfacer 1000 for the primer and Mr Color Super Clear (GX100) for the clear coat for the whole plane. Tamiya XF-1 Black for the undercoat of the silver. For silver paint I'm looking to use Mr Color Silver Metallic (GX208) with a finishing layer of Mr Hobby Super Metallic (SM201) I don't know how though to get the best results for the red and white (gloss) choices though and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks and take care, Shayne
Trojan Thunder
If you prime with Tamiya White Primer then all you have to do gloss over it to get your white, my usual method. For your red, just build up what ever colour you end up with in light coats and finally I usually put a gloss black under any large areas of a metallic finish.
Dutch
@rhusberg The Flightline L-100-20 decals were also issued in 1/200 scale for the Hasegawa Herk kit. I believe these came as one of the "free" decals in Russ Brown's Airline Modeller newsletter back in the mid-late 90s and included both 1/144 & 1/200 on one sheet.
