flood valve on Revell VII C

Recommended Posts

I've started to build Revell's 1/144 German U-Boot Type VII C. I guess it would look a lot better with the flood valves opened, not just imitated. The smaller round ones are no problem, I simply drilled them out.

But I am a bit at a loss with the oval shaped ones; any advice on how to drill/cut them open?

Are these the valves on top of the ballast tank??

When I built my 1/72 scale U-boat I used a soldering iron to push them in. You get some plastic oozing out around the PE part but it can be trimmed up well with a knife or small chisel. The PE valve was stuck down good too.
