Big Guy
FREE BLACKBURN SHARK Drawings to IPMS Canada Members Courtesy of Carl Vincent, Terry Higgins and the good folks at Aviaeology (www.aviaeology.com), IPMS Canada’s Special Products Division has come into possession of about 100 copies of detailed Blackburn Shark drawings. These drawings were recently discovered in a Belgian warehouse, carefully hidden under a pile of Afrika Korps pith helmets. The black line artwork drawing consists of one, 16†x 20†sheet, printed both sides and contains George Hopp's finely detailed 1/48 scale three-view drawings of the Shark variants used by Canada. They were originally included in 1974’s acclaimed (and now rare) Carl Vincent book, The Blackburn Shark (Canada's Wings Vol. 1), and this limited supply represents the last remnants from that time. Shark enthusiasts will be happy to learn that Carl is currently working on an updated, colour profile endowed re-edition of his long out of print Shark book. The bad news is that we don’t have enough copies to send out to all current members. So the best we can do is offer them on a first-come, first-serve basis to the first 100 IPMS Canada members who send an email to us at shark@ipmscanada.com. The drawings will be mailed out on about 15 February 2012 with RT 34/1, which, by no small coincidence, contains a superb 1/72 RCAF Blackburn Shark article. Send an email NOW, including your name and IPMS Canada membership number. The subject line should contain “Shark Drawingsâ€Â. In order to identify and sort out the interested members prior to mailing out the issue of RT around 15 February, we need you to send the email as soon as possible, and certainly no later than 31 January 2012. Only the first 100 members responding to this announcement will receive the drawings, so if you want them, send us an email today. If you are not yet a member of IPMS Canada and want to take advantage of this offer, please go online and join now and indicate in the remarks area of the PayPal screen that you are interested in the Shark drawings. www.ipmscanada.com/apply.html.
