Skinny_Mike
Hey all. Typically not a car guy, but I have a couple race car kits that I want to build. I was wondering if anyone had some advice for putting the decals on the rubber wheels. Typically I would gloss coat, decal, gloss coat, and then flat coat. Would that work on the vinyl or rubber or whatever they are, tires? Thanks Mike
Netz
If they are a decal then yes you'd use the same procedure as normal, you also might consider painting the tire. But are you sure it's a decal and not a dry transfer?? Curt

Netz
Mike, bring them with you Saturday. I sent a message to Daniel aka Habu, he does allot of cars. They are as I thought a dry transfer with a backing paper. They need to be put in place on a dry surface, burnish down then remove the backing paper with water. He said a setting solution can be used on top, he then recommends once everything is dry to brush, not spray, Testors Dullcote over them. Curt
dcavy
if they are decals ive found that i will float phuture underneat the decal especially on a dull or semi dull surface. finish over with solva set or micro sol then wipe away any remaining phuture with a q-tip and windex. Once dry if the decals have a sheen then brushcoat dullcoat over the top. I personally prefer airbrushing the topcoat cause its more uniform.
