Johnopfor
Well, here is my first completion..... Goodyear FG-1D Corsair, El Salvadorean Air Force Display Flight, 1965...... I used the 1/72 scale Tamiya F4U-1D kit...... .....along with the LF Decals set The kit was built OOB, except for the whip antanna behind the cockpit. I didn't use the national insignias on top of the wings due to some information that I recieved from another modeler who saw the aircraft that these aircraft didn't carry them. The El Salvadorean Air Force formed a display team with four FG-1D Corsairs. The paint schemes did have some variations between the aircraft. During the 1969 100 Hour War (or Soccer War) with Honduras, the display aircraft were pressed into combat service with a hastily applied camoflage scheme. The Corsairs saw combat, but two were lost in air combat with Honduran pilot Maj Fernando Soto Henriquez on 19 July 1969, including FAS 204, one of the acrobatic Corsairs. MIG Mikkel
well well, that one sneaked op under the Radar! Nice build John! :woot.gif: how was the decals? Edited February 18, 2012 by MIG Mikkel
Johnopfor
Yeah, I wasn't too sure that I was going to finish it. The decals worked rather well. They were thin and reacted well to Micro Sol. But be careful when rubbing them in, the ink starts to rub off if you rub it too much.
