Probably your best bet is Mac's Modelling:

http://www.macsmodeling.com/1-43%20STORE.htm (to their 1/43 listings) He's got a very good reputation in the race car modelling community, and is a really good guy to deal with. Not a massive inventory a la Sprue Bros or GMW, but he does regular orders from various manufacturers, and if you piggyback your items on his standard order (so it's not sitting in his inventory), you get a discount. I want to say 10%, but it's been a while. Since he's got decent prices to begin with, it makes him one of the cheapest places to get stuff.

From his last newsletter, it sounds like he's got a Tameo order going out on the 22nd, so if there's something in particular you're after, you can jump on that if you hurry. Otherwise, he seems to place an order more or less monthly (since Tameo release new stuff pretty much every month), so you can jump on his next order.

As for Tameo... that's what sucked me into the 1/43 car world. :) Great kits, and their super-detailed stuff is amazing... and terrifying. I bought the MP4/2 and was grinning from ear to ear at all the amazing, tiny details... until it dawned on me that I'd actually have to ASSEMBLE it all... then boxed it back up and put it away! :D The engineering is amazing and I know it will build up just fine, but it's a daunting task to think about. That being said, I've done a couple of their more "normal" kits (though newer releases*), and they build just fine. Working with the white metal takes some getting used to, but they were easier builds than any 'limited run' aircraft kit I've ever done. But again, Mac is a really helpful resource, so if you're not sure if you will be up to a kit, just ask.

Also, while Tameo are like the Tamiya of 1/43, if you're into F1, and particularly 60's/70's oddball stuff, check out This Way Up as well. They're a South African company, but their stuff is produced by Tameo, so it's the same calibre of detail, casting and engineering.

*I say newer, because some kits date back to the mid 80's. Obviously things have progressed since then. I guess the biggest difference is that the earliest releases had cast-in, metal suspension arms, while later on they changed to PE, which looks better, and apparently along with some other changes in how things were mastered, the kits are cleaner and easier to build from then. I've heard the change happened with a release somewhere in the low-100's. Again, if in doubt, ask Mac.

Hi,

I build mostly airplanes nevertheless I have a soft spot for the F1 and high performance cars.

Do you know where in the US can I find a distributor for Tameo Cars that can take ship mail orders?

Thanks

S.
