streetstream
So, i've been hanging around ARC forum a while, so it is time to introduce myself. I'm a 27 year old Belgian and i've been moddeling a bit when i was a teen (wich was actually sticking kits together in a couple of days) and than a 2 years ago i started again after trying a Revell 1/72 Hawker Hunter. Now i started airliners again and after a couple of tries i'm now ready for some seroius building and trying to sharpen my skills. I started a 1/144 Revell A320 (edelweiss) wich if turning out good will be build as a Aer Lingus one (thanks to 'Dndieje' for offering the decals for that plane free of charge. A very nice gesture). So after my previous build, a AZ models TU 134, i was looking for a easier build. Well, that isn't gonna happen. The revell A320 has more than average amounts of flash and some sinkmarks. I started by tackeling the wings. The dubble slotted flaps need to be changed to single flaps, so a few fairings have to be removed and some panellines filled. I also sanded the wing to make the trailing edge a bit thinner. Also, i encountered some damage at the tail near the right stabilizer, so that needed some work. It isn't perfect, but imperfections will be hidden by the stabilizer. Now i hope to be able to post some pictures. The wing after the fairings have been removed. Still needs some sanding. And the damage caused by flash near the rear of the fusalage after being dealt with. Still needs a bit of sanding and tuning up and some review after being primed. There is still a little damage on the vertical stabilizer on one of the fuselage halves (as can be seen in the last picture near the top of the fuselage), but this will be an easy fix. TheFlyingDutchman
Who is the manufacturer of the Aer Lingus decals? I really want to build an A320 or A321 in Aer Lingus livery but can't find any decals for it! Except the retro one.

They don't make them anymore, but i found someone (Dndieje) who gave me the decals for free. Didn't even have to pay the postage no matter how many times i offered. FokkerFan
Although it is not the start you'd hoped for, it is good start though! Hopefully you won't encounter any more of these unpleasant surprises. The EI scheme is very nice IMHO. Good luck with the build.

Tried a few new ways of working on a moddel and they turned ouy great. I just made one mistake on on wing that isn't easy to fix, but i will look at it after i primed it to see how bad it is. I think it will be oke, but if it isn't no worries because it is located at the bottom of the wing. Anyway, i learned one lesson on the previous build that i am now trying to do on this one, and that is to take my time and don't be satisfied to fast. Hope to be able to work on it this weekend. streetstream
OK, because the pictures don't always show when using Tumblr, i'm posting them again using Photobucket.
streetstream
Ok, did some more work on the A320. The wings are now sanded completly, but may need some light polishing. I also scratch build some detail on the front gear. I still need to ad some more, so for now no pictures. I then focused on getting some suplies. I needed some microscale kristal kleer, so orderd it at hannants along with some drills and a drill holder. But because i didn't spend enough to get it posted to me so i ordered some braz. models winglets. I started scratch building one, but stopped because they are on the way. I also wanted to ad something extra, so i am currently trying some extra detail. Not telling what because if i fail i can leave it off. No i have to join the 2 fusalage halves, but i want to coat them with black paint on the inside but it is currently to cold to paint. Just one thing that bothers me, i haven't found halfords white paint yet. Hope to find it soon, because my next build is a commision build of a 737-300.
streetstream
OK, it has been a while so here is an update. I had some time to work on the plane this weekend. I made a little cockpit for the kit and did some static dischargers on the vertical tail (hope i don't regret this). The 2 fuselage halves are now together and it is time to putty and sand the joints. The ailerons on the wings are down (going for a parked A320 here) and so are the elevators. I also painted the wheels with the trick where you dilute the paint greatly and let it run on the rim edge. Never imagened that i would work with such small wheels, but it did and it looks a 100 times better than my previous attempts. Live and learn. i hope i can work on it some more tonight and by then show some pictures.
streetstream
OK, time for some pictures. First a few shots of the cockpit i made. It is made from scratch, so it is a bit rough Then, a few pictures of the nose gear that i (tried) to improve. I'm now busy sanding the fuselage joints. It is going well. If that is done, i will join the wings do the fuselage and do some more sanding en puttying (not in that order). Once that is done, i can start reparing and finishing the tail. Have got to be careful with that one. Edited May 22, 2012 by streetstream
janvolekcz
That is turning out nicely. I really like the lights on the nose gear. By the way, the cockpit should look good behind the glazing. Nothing to worry about. I'll keep watching this one.
