Guys,

I'm trying to find pics of the RH-53D in the dark blue paint scheme. I find many in the Engine Grey scheme but hardly any in the dark blue scheme. Anybody out there have any information about Sqn's that carried the dark blue scheme? Times? Dates? Pics?

Thanks ahead of time.

Paul

I have never seen a Navy RH-53 in a dark blue scheme, all that I have seen is Engine Grey with different amounts of weathering on the paint. Iran has dark blueish color in their camo scheme. I assume you are asking cause of the Fujimi boxing. I think they might have looked at a photo where the conditions changed the way the Engine Grey is viewed. The two at the bottom are good examples of that. http://olive-drab.com/idphoto/id_photos_ch53_super_stallion.php

Actually I was talking about both the Fujimi kit and the recently re-released Revell kit. The Revell instructions call for the dark blue scheme. It's funny though...the Fujimi kit shows a dark blue scheme on the box art but calls for engine grey in the instructions! The dark blue scheme was definitely used but I think it was more rare than the engine grey. Either way....still looking for pics of the dark blue. And you're right. It's really hard to tell which is which in many photos.
