TxAg94
I was rummaging through my old supplies in the closet and came across some Mr. Hobby Mr. Color "Super Gloss II" (CL184). I know it's a clear coat and I assume it's acrylic. What I don't know is if I can or should thin it. What's the best thing to thin it with, alcohol, water? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. White Wolf
I believe Mr. Color Super Gloss is a lacquer coat, Mr. Top Coat is the one that's acrylic. :)
Tomcat Tweeker
Yup It's lacquer and Yup it needs thinned. A lot and Use Mr Color leveling thinner if U can. Works great!
TxAg94
Thanks for the info. I'm not sure why I assumed it was acrylic. I don't have anything but the gloss itself. Maybe I'll order some thinner since whenever I bought this stuff I apparently thought I needed a lot. THanks, again.
Flying Pancake
According to this old thread from 2003 you should only use Mr. Color Leveling Thinner with CL184 and never the plain Mr. Color Thinner. Apparently it reacts bad with the non-leveling stuff. http://www.automotiveforums.com/t101298-gunze_super_clear_ii_184.html Never seen a bottle of CL184 myself, it's been out of production for a while. They only have plain Clear (C46) and Super Clear III (GX100) now.
