Build #3 1/32 Mantz Racer NX1204

Recommended Posts

Scored a Revell 1/32 P-51 B kit, ordered "Wet Wings & Drop Tanks" & Excalibur III so I can start researching and figuring out what I need to mod on the B to make it a C, and figure out how to make cuffless prop blades for my Paul Mantz NX1204 Race #46. I did find a pair of photos of what I believe is the red version, but with Glenn McCarthy's Latin American on the side, I hope to do this version.

IIRC, B's and C's are the same, the only difference is where they were made. B's were from California, C's were from Texas. Mantz's plane probably would've had new wing skins to replace the gun ports on the leading edge and the gun bays at a minimum. The armor plate behind the pilot's seat most definitely would've been removed. I would think the radios behind the seat were probably different too.

The immediate post-war P-51 racers were pretty planes for sure.

Good luck with your build!

No real difference between B's and C's just location of the plant; California (the .B.) and Dallas Texas (the C)

:bandhead2: just read Holeshot's post anim_39.gif sorry for doubling up.

He's got the right scoop.

then the specific a/c's details will be discovered in your research

looks to be a good build; am looking forward to seeing your progress reports
