more often than not the winter camo on a Tiger II was done with white wash. The Tiger II's issued to SS units also had a built in air compressor so the finish would me much more even. While the others were painted with whatever was handy at the time. When the rains came the whitewash would often run and the under layer of paint would start to show thru. Plus the added layer or dirt and mud too boot. The photos you linked are not Tiger II's, and are in summer camo.
