MarkD
I am stuck on how to get this slightly tan/ brown tint to the aft fuselage on my new Columbia model. Any tips? http://finexpeditions.com/images/SpaceShuttleColumbia.JPG
K2Pete
Do you have an airbrush MarkD? That would be one solution ... ... but another, is Pastel. Get a stick of pastel in the colours you wanna use, take a knife and scrape off some 'dust' from the stick into a little pile and with either a Q-tip or a small brush, dip the brush or Q-tip into the pile and just apply it to the model. You can make it as dark or as light as you want. And if you don't like what you've done, just wipe it off with a damp paper towel or a new, wet Q-tip. Hope this helps
MarkD
What color would work to get that color seen in the photo? It looks like a light brown, tan color on the side of the aft fuselage. Discovery also has this light brownish tint as seen in the Columbia photo. http://www-pao.ksc.nasa.gov/kscpao/images/medium/2012-1711-m.jpg Atlantis too http://www-pao.ksc.nasa.gov/kscpao/images/medium/2012-1730-m.jpg Endeavour barely has any tint on it's fuselage at all. http://www-pao.ksc.nasa.gov/kscpao/images/large/2011-6426.jpg

Oh, that's the eeezy part. Just go to an art store, go to the section where they display and sell pastels, bring a copy of the photo you want to use and match the colour to the pastel. The pastel colour does not lighten or darken ... it is what it is. Then apply it to the model! Eeezy peeezy!
crowe-t
Mark, You can also pick up pastel sets that include different pastel sticks in varying shades of brown. This way you'll always have the color(s) you need. Mike.
