Shawn M
After spending a week sanding, filing and sanding more I have the nose finished up. This is a KEY part of this car as that oval radiator opening is the first thing you look at. I also thinned the openings for the brake ducts on either side. I cut the fluid tank off the front bulkhead of the chassis, boxed it in, added a weld bead (copper wire) around the seam and redid the cap as I thought it looked lame. Shot it in my base metallic color that will allow me to wear this aluminum unit nicely. All my ref shots show a Lucas Black Bomb fuel pump on the front of the radiator. So into the spares box I went to find a 1/48 WW2 O2 bottle to fit the bill. Some flat styrene stock and copper wire and I had the pump and assembly I needed. A shot of grey on the interior of the chassis (although Tamiya calls out Aluminum for this, all my ref pics show grey including the Lotus restored example). And some black on the radiator and fuel pump assy. Now the radiator....its supposed to be black painted brass so it'll get some chipping and wearing. Pics to come as Im still working and dont know what else I'll get done :)
Shawn M
Sorry gang, no pics and the build has been delayed for a few months. We just bought a house, so everything is packed or being packed for the upcoming move. I have a dedicated model building room (finally) so I should be able t finish this one up once we're moved. Shawn M
aaaand we're back! Spent this afternoon working on the Lotus. I decided that the pedal pivot towers needed work. So I de-chromed them then attacked them with some wire and styrene. The white blob is elmers glue to allow some final shaping before painting of them. here is the upper body: here is the radiator and fuel pump here is the chassis showing the fluid tank. I cut it lose from the chassis, added a cap to it and a weld seam. and my new model desk:

Shawn M
sadly the lotus was not happy with what I had done so far. The pedal towers self destructed as I added the wire pedal arms :( I now am faced with building them from scratch.
Andy70
Sorry about the pedal towers. Pump, radiator, and tank look great. Your new hobby areas are amazingly nice. Congrats on that! Are you playing drums in a band at present? Edited June 28, 2012 by Andy70
