A6BSTARM Posted March 20, 2012 Share Posted March 20, 2012 For some of you all who love building the inter-war period of US Navy and US Marine Corps aircraft. Here is a shot of the USS Yorktown Leaving Naval Base Hunter's Point in 1956 with Air Task Group 4 onboard. As you can see there is a mix of Navy Blue on the Cougars and the SPADs and Banjos are in the Gloss Gull over Gloss White. So basically this seems to prove to me that your mileage will vary and heavily depend on your references for your specific model subject. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
Rex Posted March 20, 2012 Share Posted March 20, 2012 yes, right after the intro of the LGG over White scheme,,,,you can't just assume, you have to see the aircraft you want to build, it continued that way for about 2 or 3 years the changeover was very gradual and not just "mixed color" wings were seen,,,,,but, "mixed color" squadrons as well,,,the wording was something to the effect of "the next time an aircraft went through depot maintenance" was when it was repainted,,that is not an exact quote, but, it is close Quote Link to post Share on other sites
