Dmanton300
Started this around about Christmas but ran out of steam, picked it up again last week having gained some inspiration from the Xtradecals "yanks with roundels" sheets for FAA schemes. The model is painted with Tamiya acrylics mixed to represent the temperate sea scheme and weathered in with oversprays and filters. Some oil paints were also worked into the surface in areas to change the hues slightly. Chipping was odne with a silver pencil, and exhasut stains with airbrushed acrylic, rest of the streaks are done with enamels. Final finish is Vallejo matt varnish with a little gloss added to knock the dead flat off. Stonking model, well recommended, and pretty much the last word in 72nd Hellcats! sakai
Beautiful work indeed, congrats! Rare example of how realistic, restrained weathering should be applied. I'm really sick and tired of all that pre/post-shading, washing, robotically highlited panels etc. etc. resulting almost always in cartoonish, marzipan-like, dead flat look of the plane. Very, very nice. Mario in NYC
