Jennings
Found this in a very old book today... They don't come much prettier than that!
dmk0210
I always liked that bird. I have the 1/48 Monogram kit that I plan to build OOB, inaccuracies and all, just because it is so cool looking.

ChippyWho
Watch it with the 'very old' there, yer young whippersnapper! Some of us pre-date even the first Vipers... Nah...mmm...grrmp...what was I saying...?
mingwin
i was just looking recently on ebay for an early 1/48 tamiya f-16a with look-alike sheme... also took a look at monogram's old boxing... still for that sheme... (still haven't found the "deal" i was searching for...) so, i must agree, they don't come much prettier than that!
Dmanton300
MIddle age spread has certainly taken it's toll since 1974!

CF104
First in swimsuit competition, last in talent show! Yeah, Sure....... Guess that's why it's been in production for nearly 40 years with over 4500 built and used by more than 25 countries. With your track record of posts here I would say you are a hater of the US and not a modeler. Please take your politically motivated replies elsewhere. Now, back to the photo. I've always loved the look of the YF-16. The slimmer forward fuselage makes it look not only pretty but downright sexy. Ciao, John
Jennings
Watch it with the 'very old' there, yer young whippersnapper! Some of us pre-date even the first Vipers... Some of us almost pre-date the F-16's predecessor! Me included. F4H-1s were all the rage when I was born (nobody had thought to call them F-4s yet). :) PS: Anybody thinking to build this airplane, steer WELL clear of the Monogram kit, and the original Tamiya kit is more FSD than YF. To do the YF you need the Otaki kit and lots of scrounged parts (not to mention intestinal fortitude and patience). Not that it's ever gonna happen, but I'd *love* a decent kit of the YFs. I'd have to do one in this scheme and one in the cloud scheme. Very, very cool on both counts. I remember vividly the first time I ever saw a picture of the F-16. I thought it was just about the coolest looking thing I'd ever laid eyes on, what what that shark-like chin intake and all.
Jay Chladek
I admit the first time I saw this scheme, I thought the bird looked maybe a little too garrish. To me, I didn't really begin to warm up to the F-16 until after I saw footage of one of the FSD birds in all one tone gray. THEN it looked pretty to me (which is kind of strange). I remember after seeing that, I had my folks take me to a hobby shop so I could get the old Revell 1/72 F-16 (the one with the engine on a cart). Today though, I admit the jet looked pretty smart in this colorscheme and indeed I've got an Otaki kit in my stash with the proper Microscale decal sheet (48-093) to do up a YF-16 in 1/48. At least in 1/72 we were better served with Hasegawa's offering (also copied and issued even today by Academy). Prototypes have a certain style all their own and can really turn heads if done properly.
William G
I remember the first time I saw that plane was in I think it was 1975 or 1976 Oh it made my blood flow. I loved it. The scheme is stunning. I have the old microscale sheets in 48th to do the YF, and the FSD birds And i need to find a pair of the Otaki kits... I think one of the hobby shops near me has them... Jay I have one of those Revell kits in my stash right now, as a matter of fact i was looking at it yesterday before I went to work. Had the pleasure of working every block and model from Block 5 to Block 42. William G Edited April 5, 2012 by William G
