I'm seriously considering giving Thunder Over Michigan a miss this year and going to Hamilton instead (especially since I understand the CAF B-24 won't be at Thunder.) Does anyone know the current border crossing requirements? Mandie and I don't have passports, but as Michigan residents we can get Enhanced Drivers' Licenses, which I think are fine for ground travel.

I am not sure about Canadian requirements for U.S. citizens. you can check here tho.

as a side note..it looks like the 1941 HAG C-478 will be there but no word on the "movie Memphis Belle", but it was there last year so I am assuming it will be there this year also.

The EDL will be all you need. It worked for us going to CapCon last summer. I'd recommend that show to you also, it's bi-annual, the next one is 2013.

Any word on whether the wing problem on the Lancaster will force her to miss the flying part of the show?

Consider my fingers all crossed. I saw her taxi back about 2005, I'd love to see her in the air. I might have to knock the rust off my old OM-1 and buy some film!

Anyone here ever volunteer for said show? Have always thought of doing such for either it or CIAS, but always work conflict. Could it be an advantage, or would I miss the performances?

I worked the show every year back in the old days, and I can say it's worth it. You may miss some of the show, but I'd go both days...work one and watch the other. It's a thrill to be part of something like this, and you do get a T-shirt  . I'm working the whole week before the show, and during it, and I can't wait. Depending on your assignment it could give you access to fabulous vantage points to get great opportunities. Here are a couple of images I took:

It's going to be an amazing show, go if you can!!! It would be great if we ARC'ers could meet and have a beer!

  • 2 weeks later...

CWHM has posted on their Facebook page that the Military Aviation Museum will be sending their Flugwerk FW-190. Not sure but this might be the first time a 190 has flown in Canada? That should make things even more exciting!

I can't wait for this show..this has to be one of the best airshows I have ever been too, if everything shows up!
