toadwbg
This is my first armor kit! I'm looking for a good way to add the antenna "wire", the base of which you can see in the lower right of the pic: I'm not much a fan of stretched sprue, so looking for other options like the right wire guage or something else. I didn't see the kit come with this part in styrene. Thanks- Toad
Netz
Stretched sprue (sorry) or guitar string (you'll have to size it) the small stings are not wrapped so they would be a good choice, and will probably last you a life-time of antenna builds. Curt Note:If you don't like stretched sprue, try using the Monogram plastic from the older kits, especially the silver (F-86, F-105), you might like it better. jezones
I used the wire they use on fake flowers and such. It's sold in a few sizes and is cheap. Hobby lobby and Micheals have it.
toadwbg
Thanks both of you. I will try out one or two of those and report back.
Tank
Not up on the new school stuff, the old Hummer had a whip antenna that was 9' or almost 10' long. A quick look at some photos suggest that the modern antenna not as long or as bent over as them. Hopefully someone more up on the modern stuff can help you out with the length. Here are a few options: Minimeca Model Accessories http://store.spruebrothers.com/minimeca-c292.aspx RB Model http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-35-RB-Model-35A13-Modern-Military-Vehicle-Aerial-Aerial-mount-2-pcs-eg-CV90-/350520903118#vi-desc Here another convert set for the kit w/antenna, they used 0.4mm dia. size. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Academy-1-35-M1151-Enhanced-Armament-Carrier-Humvee-AC13415-antena-parts-/270866839500

I ordered those RB model antenna off Ebay. As a temp solution, I cut a nylon bristle off a broom and super glued it on. Here it is shown unpainted in it's natural green. I painted it black after I took this photo.
HeavyArty
A section of 0.020 Platruct rod is about right fro modern antennas. It should be 2 3/4 inches long to be the right length for a modern, two-piece antenna, which is eight feet in 1/1 scale. Also, the color should be forst green, not black.
