New Zealand Fire Service Scania

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I've finally made it to the display case. I've always thought, "how can it take people 6 months to finish a model?" Well now I know :P

It is by no means perfect and was a steep learning curve but I've thoroughly enjoyed this build. It was a LOT more work than I thought it would be but seems to have come out alright in the end.

I started out with just a cheap and nasty toy with a half decent die cast cab, so I pulled it all apart and completely scratch built everything from the cab back to represent the one of the latest New Zealand Fire Service appliances.

Thanks to everyone for keeping me motivated, I'm glad I stuck with it and got it finished. Well not quite, I'm just waiting on a couple more decals, one for the front left corner of the cab and the left side pump panel will just be one big decal but apart from that, she's all done.

I hope you like it:

Thanks Holmes,

The locker door is just Grooved evergreen plastic card glued onto the back of the side of the lockers. After I painted the red and yellow stripes I ran a knife through the grooves to look like each slat was seperate.I framed each side of the openings with plastic channel to give it a bit more detail.

I had to buy another one of these to steal the windscreen out of it so I'm hoping I don't give in to temptation and build that one too. :D If I knew how much work was involved before I started, I probably wouldn't have given it a go.

Cheers

Dean
