1/32nd F-15C "Digital Flanker"

Recommended Posts

Here's the Tamiya F-15C Eagle that I just finished using Two Bob's "Digital Flanker" decals, Aires resin cockpit and Two Mike's Exhaust Nozzles. Enjoy! If anyone is interested in building an F-15C with this particular camouflage scheme and has any questions about it let me know I'd be happy to help out.

Thanks for the kind words everybody! For the painting I used Mr. Color Lacquer, with a 1:1 mix of 317 and 334 for the grey, for the blue a 5:3 mix of 308 and 322 (respectively), and the white (its actually a grey color) was 311.

Great work! I love the color scheme! I was wondering about the fitting of the Aires cockpit. How is it? What about the exhausts? Any troubles there?

I'm delighted to hear the pilot loved it! Made my day! If you ever get a chance I'd like to thank him for his service and sweet lookin plane! :) The aires cockpit fits pretty good, however on the right side you need to REALLY sand it down, and do it SLOWLY and CAREFULLY, I was off by a little on mine and the right side of fuselage is off by a 2mm or so, you can't tell with the canopy open though :) The exhausts fit great, my advice is when you cut them from the casting block, make sure its above the "notch" to give yourself room to evenly sand it. It's a blast to build and especially paint. And a thanks to Streetstream for making the pictures easier to view, how do I do that from now on by the way? I've also got some great paint mixes with Mr. Color Lacquer for the blue and grey. I HIGHLY recommend TWOBOBS decals for this project.

I hope my instructions are gonna be visible, so here we go.

You typed the link to your pictures. To make them visible in your post you just ad [ IMG ] in front of the link and [ /IMG ] at the back of the link like so: [ IMG ]http://www.yourphoto.com/photo.jpg[ /IMG ] BUT!!! remove the spaces between the brackets and the IMG text.

I posted a picture of a random plane belowe. if you hit the reply button on my comment, you can see a example of how it is done.

Or you just copy "IMG code" link instead of "Direct link" in Photobucket. Then you automatically get the link with IMG tags.

Great build and nice job on the paint scheme.

I have been thinking about making the Tamiya F-15C in this scale. I have read mixed or outdated reviews. Given this kit was produced in the early 90's, is it a decent kit that doesn't require a heap of work to pull off?

Can you compare it to another large scale jet in terms of kit quality? Ie the Tamiya F-4 series, recent Trumpeter releases etc.

Thanks, I would appreciate your opinions.

Overall its a pretty good kit, the only problem area was getting the wing joint to be smooth, required a fair amount of putty and sanding, but nothing difficult, just a little time consuming. The cockpit they provide is really good, and if I did this plane again I would have to qualms about doing it OOB. Detail is very good, the gear bays lack some detail, but I unless youre trying to win a contest I wouldnt worry about it.
