Proposed GB information and Submission template

Recommended Posts

Name: Skis and Floats, Anything But Wheels

Dates: TBD

Mods: dnl42 and vince14

Info: This GB is prompted by the Vintage Wings great article, Skis and Floats, Anything But Wheels. While this highly recommended article focused on combat aircraft, military trainers, and transport aircraft, this GB will include any aircraft, fixed wing or rotary, any scale, that had/has floats or skis, even if just under a test program, like the F4F-3S Wildcatfish. This is a great opportunity to do something unique, like a P-38 on skis, or perhaps something as ubiquitous as a Beaver or Otter on floats.

Name: Spitfire: 80th Anniversary Group Build

Dates: March 5, 2016 - January 1, 2017

Mods: nickdanger, ?

Link to planning thread

Description:

Thought it would be nice to start the GB next year on the 80th anniversary of the Spitfire's first flight, March 5, 1936 (though there is some confusion) and run it through the anniversary of the last operational RAF flight, January 1, 1951.

While it's a subject that is already quite popular, the last few years have been good to Spitfire fans with excellent kits at a variety of scales and Marks from multiple kit manufacturers.

Examples: American Revolution Bicentennial, Canadian Centennial, 75th anniversary of Naval Aviation, Battle of Britan 75th Anniversary , unit anniversaries, etc

(excludes production milestones, such as 5000th Phantom)

Details:

Any military aircraft, any scale, any media, any amount of AM

only minimum work already done (painting parts, Cockpit assembly, etc)

markings are sole determination of military vs civilian (example 747 with military markings is considered military.. flight systems f-100 is civilian)

Kurt, if you need a hand I'll be willing to help. Otherwise I will still be in there a bit since I have a lot of these builds.

Dates: March 1 though Sept 1, 2016

Link to Planning Thread: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=290955

Description: This GB would be open to any machine that managed to get airborne with the intention of collecting intelligence information. This would include visual, photo, SIGINT, COMINT or ELINT. Anything from a hot air balloon with a guy with binoculars to the most modern manned jets and drones. Any country, any time frame, any scale, even What If's. Beginning with an unstarted kit would be nice, but I would agree to anything up to 75% already completed. Maybe this would get a few of those "shelf queens" back in action.

Description: This GB would be open to any Russian or former Soviet Union aircraft, helicopters, military, civilian, any time frame. What-ifs are OK, aircraft only (we'll include ekranoplans in this), subject must be in Russian markings from any time period (i.e. no Polish Fulcrums or Egyptian MiGs, etc.). The spirit of this GB is to build a Russian-made aircraft or what-if of a Russian subject; truly building something from the Bear (i.e. MiG, Su, An, Mi, Tu, Il, Yak, etc.).

Link to planning thread Template poll page

Description: Bombers. Who doesn't love bombers? Anything and everything that was purpose built to drop bombs. Includes medium and lighter range bombers as long as their primary function is to bomb. Does not include multi-role fighters that have been adapted for a bombing role. Still should be plenty of larger aircraft and interesting planes to be built. Any scale accepted builds need be less than 15-20% complete at beginning of the buid. Cockpit work or minor construction ok. case by case basis if needed.
