-Neu-
My Hasegawa 1/72 thunderbolt... Actually this is a pretty heavily modified kit... as the old Hasegawa kit needs a bit of help. Its got an Engine and Things aftermarket R2800. There are AM gun barrels, I switched up the cockpit with one from another kit. The pilot is from the Revell RAF aircrew set, but I had to modify him to get him accurate. There are a few details I'll need to include but I'm a bit busy the next few days so I thought I'd take the photos now for you all. This is the photo I used as inspiration: And here is the kit. You'll notice the propeller is not fully detailed. I intend to get a prop blur set so I can replicate the photo better. Hope you like it. AX 365
Thanks for the comments on the Rufe guys. Ax, I love that paint job, very fine surface, it looks highly polished. A Corsair with the flaps down looks so cool Bill I agree. Great finish! -O Smooth finish on the Corsair, looks great. Rob Rob, Bill and "O" Thank you very much for your kind words. No polishing involved. Just five layers of Model Master Glosscote. And I agree about the lowered flaps. It give her that certain, 'Je ne sais pas?" ("I don't know.") This is the Tamiya F4U-1D kit with Airfix's markings for Sub Lt Hampton Grey's X/115 of 1841 Squadron off HMS Formidable and Airfix's FAA Corsair IV kit with Tamiya's markings for VF-84 "Wolf Gang" off USS Bunker Hill. The only addition was a pair of British-pattern 500lb bombs for Grey's aircraft, sourced from an Academy Hawker Tempest F4U-1D and Corsair Mk IV by mawz_models, on Flickr F4U-1D and Corsair Mk IV by mawz_models, on Flickr Tamiya Corsair Mk IV 1/72 by mawz_models, on Flickr Airfix F4U-1D 1/72 by mawz_models, on Flickr Edited August 7, 2012 by mawz

mawz
pabbi and mawz, Very nice work, gentlemen. Thanks, I rather liked your take on X/115 as well. Funny how decal sets differ though (the Airfix one I used is incorrect in at least one regard, X/115 was KD399, not KD658 as Airfix has it. Not sure about the other differences between the two decal sheets)
