zaxos345
Good evening guys, tough month at work but i tried to ''steal'' some time for modelling!! I continued with building some details at the back ''office'', a ramp for the upper radios as the aircraft i am building was a -4E one as well as the 2 small devices for this place, one radio and one radar scope for the APS-4 radar. At the same time i made 4 small bases for the lower raw of the radios. Finally i sprayed some Mr Surfacer 1200 and some color... The beginning... Detailing stage and first part of weathering with wash and dry brushed oil... ....
zaxos345
... Second part of weathering with pigments and metal pencils. I tried not to overdone it... ....
zaxos345
... And the small radar scope device... That's all for now guys, hope you like it John

zaxos345
Thanks Chuck, my progress is a bit slow but i try! Right now i am assembling all the small details in order to close the fuselage. I knew that this was going to be a long project but it is going to be longer!!! zaxos345
Good morning guys, I had some free time so.... new episode... I placed the metallic bases for the bottom radios (they are from Part, painted with Citadel Bolt gun metal) After that and before continuing with the radios, the pilot's seat and the stick took their places... Starting with the radios... How they are going to look like with the fuselage closed... ....
zaxos345
... The gunner's compartment floor... And i added the final details... An overall view... Thats all for now my friends, on the next episode i hope to have the fuselage closed. But before that have to review everything in order not to forget anything out!!!! TripleP
Nice work so far but before you close the fuselage halves, shouldn't there be some wiring behind/around the radio sets? I assume Bluetooth and WiFi were not the fashion in those days. :-) Peter
11bee
... Looks great. One possible suggestion - if that's a fire extinguisher, the discharge nozzle should be shiny black vrs the green color of the housing itself. Regardless, your work is outstanding, look forward to seeing everything buttoned up. John
chuck540z3
Nice and dirty, worn and REAL looking. Great job so far John!
zaxos345
John, Chuck thanks guys. John, it is an oxygen bottle i think they were painted willow green (???). My pics shucks, in real life colors and weathering is much more in balance!!! Almost forgot it, Peter there is another raw of radios so when i put them over the existing ones, nothing is going to be visible. That is why i did not put any wires behind. Now around them, i dont have a decent photo to show the details, the only one i have from D&S shows the lower raw totally empty, so i cannot make any clue how they would show. That is why i chose to leave as it is. John
zaxos345
Good evening guys, i am slow but steady. A little update, i managed to close the fuselage and i was pretty happy with the fit of the 2 halves. I used CA to fill the gaps and for sanding as well as superfine milliput. You can also see the amazing canopy trails from part!! like the true ones only in 1/48 scale. I also glued in place the rear wheel. If you remember i shortened it because the kit depict it to in flight condition. Here also milliput was used and because i sanded down all the rivets i replaced them with Archer ones. Here you can see the antenna's attachment points... ....
zaxos345
... I used part details PE to replicate the two flaps from where the air from the oil cooler was exited. Pretty amazing detail!!! The real one.. And the one from Part... I continued with the upper raw of the avionics boxes. I have to remind you that i am building a -4Ε model which carried the AN/APS-4 RADAR POD so i had to make the small radar screen for the rear pilot. I have also build a telegraph key, it seems good, dont you think? ...
zaxos345
... Another small detail, a floodlight... Some detail from Eduard into the bomb bay and i have also assembled and painted Mk.VIII Gunsight from Quickboost. That's all for now, thanks for watching... zaxos345
Good morning guys and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE. New year has come so i thought to post something new myself also. So a little progress with the ''beast''!!! I placed inside the fuselage the gunners seat and machine gun tower in a way that it can move up and down Following that i made the life-raft and its tube. Here i combined the eduard PE for the tube, the excellent PE from part for the mechanism and alunimium tape for the raft. Unpainted... And painted... .... zaxos345
... Next it was time to deal with the machine guns and its gun mount adapter MARK II MOD3. I did not like what kit was giving me so decided to modify it. Here is the beginning...so small ad 15 pieces!!! The reflector sight... the junction box... the feed unit of the gun combining eduard PE and and scratch chute and roller unit... Here are the guns painted with Master barrels on (i forgot to take a pic)... And the start of the assembling process...You can also see some data plates, i used some scrap part from Waldron sets. ...
