Supertom
They were shipped to me a few days ago-I'm still waiting. I will post photos and enable the preorder link as soon as I receive them. SWEET!!! I freaking can't wait. By the way, is that green/blue scheme representative of North Korean MiG-29s, or was it just that one, or does nobody really know? I seem to recall that the green/gray scheme was applied too.
KursadA
By the way, is that green/blue scheme representative of North Korean MiG-29s, or was it just that one, or does nobody really know? I seem to recall that the green/gray scheme was applied too. There are several photos showing multiple Mig-29s painted in this scheme; which leads me to believe that it's either their current standard scheme or one of their standard schemes. As with most things North Korean, nobody really knows. At any rate, "bort 553" is more or less "well documented" for a North Korean jet (i.e. there are several photos/video captures of the airframe showing its markings) Edited August 27, 2012 by KursadA
KursadA
They are finally here! I am really happy with the quality of these, and will start shipping them this Thursday. These were my first sheets printed in the Czech Republic, so I ordered a very limited quantity. The preorder links are here: CD48019 - 1/48 North Korea & Iran Mig-29 CD72008 - 1/72 North Korea & Iran Mig-29 Edited September 10, 2012 by KursadA
Hoops
The quality looks very good. Does this mean we can hope for some more 1/72 releases? *evil grin* Hoops
Ryan Hothersall
Will be putting in my order in the next day or two. Will be keeping an eye out for future global airpower releases.
Supertom
I tried preordering it but Paypal freaked out and said they'd be contacting me in 24-48 hours. Did anyone else get that?
rustywelder
I tried preordering it but Paypal freaked out and said they'd be contacting me in 24-48 hours. Did anyone else get that? aye, i got the same thing.
KursadA
There seems to be a problem with the buttons. And I was wondering why I could not sell a single one ;-). I just tried buying one from my wife's account, and got the same error. You can send payment directly to "sales@caracalmodels.com" (make sure you tell me what you want) while I sort this out. rustywelder
WooHoo! Tried the button again and it worked. I can't wait to see what comes up next for the global air power series. Edited September 11, 2012 by rustywelder
KursadA
Fun trivia: I think PayPal flags the transaction if you used the words "North Korea" in your PayPal button description! I changed the item description to use the word "NK" first, and then "Global Air Power #2" and things seem to be working now. Ryan Hothersall
Ordered two of the 1:72 sheets today, one for me and a friend.
jwest21
Are all North Korean MiG-29s painted like this or was this some sort of special scheme for a Kim visit?
KursadA
I don't think anyone can say with certainty that this is the only standard scheme, but there is enough photographical evidence that suggests this is a common scheme and there are at least several Mig-29s painted this way. At any rate, there is no doubt that "553" is definitely painted in this scheme. The red panel with the commemorative text is particular to this airplane, but there apparently are similar markings on others as well. jwest21
cool- thanks! Now I just have to figure out which MiG to build first...

Litvyak
The 29 that was visited by the Great and the Dear Leaders will never see combat, but will /always/ be serviceable and in pristine condition! It would be too disrespectful to them, to let this aircraft be anything less than perfect. I'm not even really joking... their most perfect-condition locomotive is (of course) one that Kim Il-sung visited (and reportedly drove, too). A bench in a park that he sat on is now cordoned off, a protective roof put above it, and a plaque commemorates the fact that the Great Leader once put his a.. onto it. rustywelder
:OMG-OMG: Got my sheet yesterday. They look absolutely crackin' as always.
KursadA
I'm glad you liked them! I'm super excited about the "Czech connection" - this printer will make a bunch of new 1/32 and 1/72 projects possible. You will start seeing the results once the T-45 hoopla is over and things return to a saner pace here.
KursadA
More than half of the 1/48 sheets are gone. If only I had known about the excellent Great Wall Hobby Mig-29 kit coming next month; I would have added more options to these two and released a more extensive Mig-29 offering. I will still consider a bigger Mig-29 sheet (with an entirely different set of options) once the kit is here.
