White Wolf
Hey veliko_pile, someone just posted the sheet you're looking for in Buy and Sell: http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=253096 EDIT: Never mind, it's been sold already. :( Edited August 4, 2012 by White Wolf
Brian P: Fightertown Decals
Both 48024 and 48020 have now been long sold out. The website won't let you buy either but for some reason the 48020 button keeps resetting to allow you to click on it. If you can get either sheet, all the markings are the same. VF101 had a lot of gets so you could pick or piece together almost any modex from 120-165. They're also used the 220-267 range. they had names sometimes and no names some times. veliko_pile
One question regarding the nozzles. I know that when it's parked one is opened one is closed, what's would be the status of the nozzles during a "ready five alert" both opened or? I have to make the order with the aires nozzles within 2 days. so please reply :) thanks
veliko_pile
Here's the new update. Starting with a little "step by step" on how to do the raised lines on the horizontal stabilizers , since the Hasegawa scribed lines are wrong:
veliko_pile
and then the rest of the update. I have rescribed the whole body, the mistakes on the upper fuselage are resolved, I have to do the same thing on the other part of the main body, some putty will be needed , and rescribing too. I also did the ECM antenna myself with sculpey modeling paste, and the fuel dump pipe was done with a 2 mm brass tube... bye:

veliko_pile
Sent you an email. May be able to help out on the main markings... thanks, I replied to that asking if you really have the VF-154 Black Knights sheet, I'd love to do the MODEX 103.
veliko_pile
I'm on vacation so I'm not doing any progress here, but I've searched a lot for the decals, Brian kindly sent me a copy of the VF101, I still didn't get the mail so I don't know how the decals are. In the meantime a friend of mine told me he might have the VF 154 CAG decals, and I started to dig and search the history of that bird. I fell in love with the a/c and his duty in Iraq, and now that friend told me that he doesn't have that decals. Now I'd like to ask here if anyone have just the decals left to do the "red tailed" VF 154 and would like to sell it to me. Thanks Edited August 24, 2012 by veliko_pile

veliko_pile
So, there's a big chance I'll do the NF-101 from the VF 154, during the 2003 Iraq war. I'm not home and I don't have the model near me, but I see that I'll have some changes to make in order to do this version. I hope that someone will help me along in spotting the differences that this modefied A version have. Some differences that I spot: NACA type of gun vents Strengthening plate where's the RIO boarding step I think a couple of ECM blisters LANTRIN pod A modified front wheel bay door TACAN antenna GPS dome The hasegawa kit does not provide the Glove Vanes, and I see from some photos that the NF-101 have the vane just disabled not removed and sealed. I think I will be doing the CAS loadout, with the LANTRIN, 1 AIM-9 and 4 GBU12. I see that steel beach have some intresting aftermarket sets. Here's a list of what I'd like to get, please take a look and see if all fits together- Would this fit the Hasegawa kit and enchace the look of the AIM9? http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/sba48019.htm Since I'm doing a 4 GBU-12 payload, is this the correct bomb rack? http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/sba48025.htm I need a LANTRIN also, I know it says that fits the Revell kit, but how much difference can it be. http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/sba48030.htm I don't know if the ventral fins is a "must have" I don't have the model here , so I don't know if there's a lot of differences from the Hasegawa part. http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/sba48049.htm I think this is a "must have" http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/sba48055.htm Would this TCS pod fits the NF-101? http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/sba48089.htm I know that Hasegawa kit have the drop tank , but this lookd just gorgeous, don't you think? http://www.royaleresin.net/products/productpage/r007.html And finally, is there any need for the metal landing gear? http://www.hobbyeasy.com/en/data/qbn26xkg1ycop039qfu7.html
veliko_pile
Finally home. I didn't like the look of the vents located on the belly of the tomcat, so I replace it with the NACA vents that are supposed to go on the gun gas purge intakes.

veliko_pile
Hello! I've finally received as a gift the decals from a friend, thanks Ognjen ;) I've also purchased the alfa probe and pitot tube, and 2 mode PE set. Here's today update:
veliko_pile
The second wing glove is in place. Now I have to wait for the epoxy to cure and then sand. The ECS vents have the correct number of ribs (9 on the L and 10 on the R) and I think the correct angle too. Since some details will be visible trough the vent I decided to do some simple interior. I've also thinned the plastic of the vent that provide cooling for the actuator (I guess), and add a detail I've seen on DACO book. Bye
Aigore
Man, all that PE looks awesome!
Bulldog 09
Outstanding work Sir. Quick question for you, who makes those PE sets? I would like to get my hands on a couple of sets. Dave Fassett
veliko_pile
Outstanding work Sir. Quick question for you, who makes those PE sets? I would like to get my hands on a couple of sets. Dave Fassett Hi Dave, the website seems to be down now, but Google "amur reaver F-14" you will get some reviews. There are 2 sets, one for the wing gloves and another one for the exterior details. It's a must have set if you want a detailed Tomcat, neither Eduard or Dreamodels give PE parts that you get in those set. The guy is from Russia, a very nice person, respond to e-mails really fast. The 2 sets and shipping from Russia too Croatia was 25 USD, I think it's good value. Sandro

veliko_pile
Today's update. All the seams are sanded with 280-400 grit paper, now it's time to do the same process with 600-1000 and then prime all to see where are the mistakes. The overall process for all of the seams with this PE parts is: Styrene and Epoxy putty if needed. Sanding with dremel and 280grit Tamiya putty Sanding 280-400 grit Tamiya putty again Sanding 280-400 grit Sanding 600-800-1000 grit Prime with Mr surfacer 1000 in spray. Tamiya putty where needed. Sanding from 600 to 1000 where needed. I've also done the air conditioner fans and housing located near the phoenix lunch pods on the belly. Again just a normal quick interior.
