Thanx rustywelder :D

There´s many stories surrounding the persian Phoenix...

Considering that Iran had almost 300 missiles and not all stored at the same location it´s doubtful all would have been sabotaged,

Same goes for the Tomcat firecontroll, that was also rumored to have been sabotaged, out of 79 kittys it´s very doubtful they would have been able to sabotage all of them.... simply because US personel didn´t have access to all att all times.

SHort of destroying all the phoenix and the Tomcats they would have been made operational over time anyways, maybe deployment would have been delayed...

Remember that the Phoenix is basicly 60´s tech so there wasn´t an insurmountable tech barrier for the Iranians.

I have a little update today as well :D

I got some PE in my postbox today (thanx Henrik)

IMG_4930.jpg

Then I happened to put some decals on the wings and fins..

IMG_4931.jpg

IMG_4932.jpg

IMG_4933.jpg

That Hasegawa PE sheet must be made from stainless steel! I had to use real brute force to get the PE off the sheet.

Anyways, some found theur way into the canop innards...

IMG_4934.jpg

And I could finish the boarding ladder!

IMG_4936.jpg

I then decided it was time to clean up the rear...some putty and sanding.

IMG_4937.jpg

And a new coat of paint.

IMG_4938.jpg

That´s all for today...

Cheers!

Sweet! Looks simply awesome, Janne... :jaw-dropping:

Please, don't forget the "Allah" symbol on the left wing underside (and it's not symmetrical to the roundel on the right wing - as some IRIAF F-14 had two of them, like shown on the instructions)

Greetings

Diego

Painted the frame black and dry brushed it...

IMG_4943.jpg

Quick shots of dilluted clear coat on top and then demasking :D

IMG_4944.jpg

Tonight´s update :D

Got the vertical stabs glued on...

IMG_4945-1.jpg

And the landing gears are painted.... now it´s time for the some detailing :D

IMG_4949-1.jpg

Started with the nose wheel strut and added a few copper wires and lead wires.

IMG_4950-1.jpg

IMG_4951-1.jpg

See if I can´t do something about the MLGs tomorrow :D

Cheers!

Oki, MLGs!

Added some wires...

IMG_4956.jpg

Painted the wires...

IMG_4957.jpg

Put the MLGs together and then dirtied them up with a wash...

IMG_4958.jpg

And glued into place, there´s a piano wire sticking out from where the wheel goes...I did a dodo earlier, I´ll explain later.

IMG_4959.jpg

Then I put the nose gear together...

IMG_4960.jpg

And glued it into place, actually it clicked into place in the aires well, nice :D

IMG_4961.jpg

There, now the kitty can stan on it´s own three feet :D

IMG_4963.jpg

About the dodo I did...

There was no holes in the resin wheels so they´d fit onto the struts... So I meassured the square pegs in the struts and arrived at the conclussion that I should drill a 3 mm hole in the wheels.

So I did, but as I was drilling the last hole I realized I was stupid and should simply have cut the peg off the strut, inserted piano wire and then drill small holes in the wheels!

Well I had to fill the hole I drilled with superglue so I can drill new holes later :P

IMG_4964.jpg

Enoughy about the wheels now :D

Tomorrow I´ll put on the last decals, then seal them with a clear coat and then it´s weathering time!

Cheers!

There..

Done with the decals! Didn´t keep me from putting a couple of decals in the wrong place though...

The stencils are the same as in US Hi vis schemes...except for a couple of stencils. In US cats they

are placed right next to the intakes but in (IIAF) IRIAF markings it´s placed right under the IRIAF (IIAF) decal.

Of course I didn´t check so I had to remove the decals I misplaced.....

IMG_4965.jpg

IMG_4966.jpg

IMG_4967.jpg

Then I sealed the decals with a clear coat...

IMG_4968.jpg

Now I´ll just wait for the clear coat to cure so I can start weathering :D

Cheers!

Weathering!

Yup, it´s time to get dirty!

I´ll end up with a slightly overweathered alicat, but hey! you know me :D

First I made a thin panel line wash that I splashed all over the model with a flat brush.

IMG_4970.jpg

Then I wiped it off when it was dry to the touch...

IMG_4971.jpg

IMG_4972.jpg

IMG_4973.jpg

Then it was time for rain streaks...

I made a palette and squeezed out some artis oils on it...

IMG_4974.jpg

I then dotted the paints all over the surface in a random pattern.

IMG_4975.jpg

I wiped it off in the rain direction, that is wings and upper surfaces I wiped front to back and on the sides I wiped from up to down.

IMG_4977.jpg

IMG_4979.jpg

The next step was to make dirt streaks, these are made by dotting chosen paints in places where you expect dirt streaks or leakage and such.

IMG_4980.jpg

And finally I sealed the weathering with a flat coat!

IMG_4982.jpg

All that´s left to do now is final assembly and painting the lights and adding the antennaes :D

That means this is the final update on the WIP forum..see you in the displaycase sometimne durng this week!

Cheers!
