Aigore
I filled the windscreen gap with white glue, this area will later be painted black so it´ll show even less...guess I´ll lose lots of points at the competition though :P Time to paint the belly of the beast! Painting the belly I prefer to mask...I really hate over spray and masking is the only way to go really... I can always soften the color borders later... On with the mask, rolls of tack.it and tape :D Then I shot FS36622 in thin layers...off with tha mask and...it look alright :D At this point I think I should put a nice and protective clear coat before I start with the detail painting :D Cheers! Engineer66
Joanne, Excellent work, again! The 'cat is looking good, although it does look a bit strange to me as 99% of the 'cats I've seen are in USN colours. Lovely job on the paintwork though. Al

Aigore
Bit of detail painting going on today :D Masked and painted the anti glare on the nose.. And the front edges of the fins and wings got painted with Alclad white aluminium... Unfortunately the tape lifted the paint on one of the wings...strange since I had it clear coated to avoid just that :/ Then I masked off the nose cone and and the IFR probe, I begun with Alclad primer to get rid of all the different paints used earlier, it would take way to many layers of white to cover the paint shifts otherwise. And the mask removed, got a nice off white tone to it :D CHeers!
Sebastijan
looks great in colours!

Oh, and I got the wingfold bags in place. I dmit that´s not the entire progress from today but the rest is just small parts getting paint on :D ..and loosing a PE sheet :/ Cheers! Neo
Looks great i see your using hardware store masking WHITE tape that might be the issue with the paint lifting.. i would recomend getting some Green masking tape has it more low tack that its white brother Appart from that she looks really great love the work your doing ! Aigore
Thanx Neo :D Wel I was sloppy again, I usually remove glue from the tape by attaching it to my hand several times....but I forgot to do that on the wing...
Aigore
Only small stuff again ... Assembled the tailhook, I took off aout 1mm off the tailhook since it´s a bit long :D Painted the main wheels.. Painted the Phoenix missiles.. And the other missiles as well for that matter :P And the airbrakes... Touched up where the tape lifted the paint...a bit od polishing and a clear coat it won´t show as obviously.. Well then...Time to start making the landing gear legs then and I think decals are about to happen :D Cheers!
Aigore
Time for some construction for a change :D I shamelessly stole Veliko_pile´s method for making the canopy breaker... First a bit of masking... Then a bit of putty and off with the mask... I shifted my attention to the rear, the fuel dump looked horrid so I cut it off and drilled a hole... Then I stretched some plastic tube to the right diameter and put it into place... And now to the landing gears! I really don´t like the gawa landing gears...way too many parts I think! Got them together after a while and I remember hearing something about the fit with the Aires wheel well and the gawa struts.. I dry fitted the MLG..and well that didn´t look good :/ it should look like this..but the MLG support is misaligned.... After some clever meassuring I decided to cut off 3 mm from the support... Now we have a perfect fit! That was quite a chunk I had to take out of th support :P Compare with the unmodified one :P More about the struts tomorrow :D Cheers! Engineer66
Janne, Apologies for miss spelling your name in an earlier post, I'm blaming it on the software and auto correct! Looking at the wheels are they the kit ones or A/M resin? I have just bought the Academy F-14A and am putting a wish list together for the detailing stuff. Al

rustywelder
simply stunning work! I didn't think the Iranians had the ability to use the phoenix?, maybe I'm mistaken(probably am) but i thought the guidance systems had been sabotaged by Grumman ground crews after the revolution.
