Never before in 48th scale?

Recommended Posts

So i was thinking the other day - i am interested in most aircraft pretty much from 1940 onwards - are there any that haven't been kitted by a major company in Injection Moulding yet? I wanted to do a poll and submit it to some major companies to get them thinking - i had my own aircraft in mind until recently when someone went and kitted it!!

What would you guys want to see?

How bout a Grumann Tiger. Or a McDonnell Banshee or Phantom I. Yeah there was the old Lindberg kit of the Tiger, but we need a new one!

I keep wishing for a nice B-26K Counter Invader in the same league as Revell's Ventura...

here's a few Sukhoi jets that comes to my mind(and aren't already named) : Su-9, Su-11, Su-17(20),Su-17M2(22), Su-34, Su-47...

Also, a special place for a MiG-31... and some more fulcrums : MiG-29M,K,OVT,M2,KuB...SMT(917,919...)to name only a few variants...

I'd be happy to see someone produce a Yak-11, a Yak-18, and a Jet Provost in 1/48th scale, but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for that to happen. I know most modelers don't share my interest in trainers. Also, as I've mentioned before, a 1/48 Mi-8 helicopter would be welcome.

Not in mind any that have never been produced in 1/48. But I would really love it if someone came out with a new release of a 1/48 F-4J Phantom II. Most of the Hasegawa F-4J's are OOP, and nobody has really released any ones yet. I know Revell has a decent F-4 C/D, and Academy will release their 1/48 F-4B sometime this year, but I'd like to see a lot more choices for J model since I'd assume the F-4 is a very popular aircraft among modelers.

I'd like more early US Navy jets in 1/48. The recent releases of the Fury and the Demon were great, so there is obviously interest. An F11F Tiger, an F2H Banshee, and a F9F-8 Cougar would be awesome!

I will speak for the Marine Transport Guys and say a KC-130 F/R/T and a KC-130J w/ Harvest Hawk Upgrade.

Has anyone made a C-17 in this scale??

Crossing to the other side of the herring pond for a moment ... I don't believe there's ever been an injection-moulded 1/48 Gloster Javelin, Supermarine Swift or Supermarine Scimitar. Nor a Vautour. I'm a bit unsure about the Super Mystere and the Mystere IV - they may have been done by a small French manufacturer.

There have been IM kits of the F9F-8, F11F-1 (both Fonderie Miniature) and P-63 (MPM), though I wouldn't want to claim any of them was top of the range.

I'm going to go the odd aircraft route(and yes I know the first two were kitted in resin):

1. AF-2/3 Guardian

2. AJ-2 Savage

3. B-26K

4. F-108 Rapier
