star570133
Hello fellows!!!! I just finished the A-4E of Hasegawa in 1/48 scale. The kit I decided to build the kit almost OOB, because there are some stand-out features on the this kit of Hasegawa. Engraved and raised surface detail on wings and fuse are very clean and restrained. The undercarriage bays contain as much detail as anyone could reasonably ask for in one piece injection molded plastic parts. So there were not many things to add, except the Escapac ejection seat of AIRES. The kit has two marking options for the Fighter Weapons School. I decided to build the No.55 BuNo 151095 of Lt Michell “Mick” in green, tan and sand, which by the way was the same A-4E, flying in "TOP GUN" movie. See the link. That's why i decided the title "JESTER" for my build. Here are some photo of my latest build. Edited July 22, 2012 by star570133
fulcrum1
Nice! Now all you need is a black F-5 and one of the tomcats from the movie and you're set!
Devilleader501
I was just going to ask about weather or not anyone has made decals for Maverick's Tomcat. I would love to build all three. Great job on the A-4E looks just like the real thing. I love the paint job very clean pattern. I still have trouble painting like that.

ChippyWho
Oh for...! Every time I think I got all I need by way of A-4 Adversaries, some 'Jester' comes up with another one -how many of these darn things are there??? Looks like I won't be eating this month. Again. Utterly superb, Sir! Edited July 22, 2012 by ChippyWho
Fly-n-hi
When you got done building it did you yell "YEE HAW JESTERs DEAD"?
JesniF-16
Very nice scooter Great gear detail and camo. /Jesse
Karl Sander
I recently started the same kit (going with different markings though so you don't have to feel plagarized ;). Did you have references for the landing gear well detailing or just go with what seemed right?
Diamondback Six
Beautiful build, but minor movie quibble--Jester's bird was gray like the box pic, so... "Holy ---, it's VIPER!"
Jinxter13
Exquisite work, sweet job on the color applications ........Jester's bird was gray like the box pic, so... Not so fast......check the film clips in the scene where Maverick and Goose get Jester he's flying the bird as modeled here, or that's what the camera shows as Jester breaks off right. Diamondback Six
Conceded--it was a later scene wen we first see Viper up that they've traded birds, and I'd bet the producers weren't paying attention to continuity so all they cared about was "Tomcat and Not Tomcat", so there may have been footage of both incorporated into the same scene intended to represent the same plane. For some reason, camo'ed A-4 always makes me think of the "Bingo, Maverick's dead" moment...
Jinxter13
Ya know in the old days circa WWII when pilots had individual aircraft and flew the same bird mission after mission names on the canopy frames meant something, however these days it's more of a yeah he's in this squadron and flies this type of aircraft, because when they go out there's no guarantee that they'll fly the same bird two times in succession; so if follyweird followed that scenario, Jester on a given day could even be flying in an F-5 or whatever was available. The Phantom that Steve Ritchie became an ace in had kills from other pilots on it; so the Phantom was an ace in it's own right. Karl Sander
Jester on a given day could even be flying in an F-5 or whatever was available. Presuming he was qualified in it ;) But you comment is right on. It cracks me up when people talk about a 'person's' airplane. Really? Oh, well, if my name is on AG500 and it's time for it's 365 day inspection does that mean i don't get to fly for the 3 weeks or whatever it's going to take? Same thing, with an extra flair of silliness, with the idea of "CAG bird," and even people in naval aviation use that one, which rather boggles my mind.
