kg4kpg
Okay, I'm envious. I ride a desk all day.
Jay Chladek
I like that... "Are you taping? Oooops." :D Pretty impressive seeing those GE fans spooling up (I think they are GEs anyway considering the shape of the blades).
K2Pete
And just how long have you been doing this? ( ooops, sorry, just re-read your posting ... 23 years ... ) ... and honestly, wouldn't you rather be driving a desk? Just think of all those papers you could push! Thanx for posting that Emil! That was a treat! Pete Edited August 1, 2012 by K2Pete
Emvar
Okay, I'm envious. I ride a desk all day. I do too, it just has a steering wheel and windshield. Unfortunately my office has no Temp control.... pretty hot in the summer and they turn on the AC for the winter. Lucky for me I didn't use any colourful metaphors and I didn't think the tape was rolling. I may do some more on different A/C when I can. Believe me you only see the fun side..... there are times riding a desk looks appealing to me, maybe one day I might just hang up the keys to the Tonka Toy (Tug). Kind of takes me back to the good old days of the L1011 and those RR Engines would make the ground shudder. If you can believe it I never once touched the brakes.... idle thrust stopped the push. Only other A/C I've ever pushed and had that effect was the 747. Loved that bird.
Tony P
Thanks for posting that. Nice to see it from the "other side". Jealous!
MaxPower
Cool job. When I went to school to study gas turbines I couldn't wait to spend some time around planes. Then I ended up on industrial RB211s so the only planes I see are the ones that fly overhead. Who knew. Is that YVR?

ALF18
Thanks for clueing me in to come and see this. My first time ever in the airliners forum, and well worth the look. Nicely done video! I guess it rains sometimes in Toronto, like Vancouver? ALF

I guess it rains sometimes in Toronto, like Vancouver? ALF Dan, No where near as cool as what you did. I'd give my left Nut for a sit in a CF-18. I like perusing through this forum....I hate building Airliners only because it is work for me. I try and help folks out though when they need detail help. Yeah but when it rains in Toronto it comes down then disappears, not that perpetual moistness you get at YVR. I hate Rain Gear. Emil

Emvar
Here is another Video that a colleague of mine posted several years ago... He is pushing a B777-300ER while mine was a -200LR you can see the difference in the length of the aircraft from our perspective in the Tug. Both Pushes originated from the same Aircraft Stand and finished in the same location he had the added difficulty of doing it in the rain where you can loose the lines real quick if you are not aware of your surroundings. Ishthe47guy
Just found this post while looking for some other Air Canada info. Very cool. Commercial aviation is a worlds I've never worked in... Feel like I'm missing out in a way.

Emvar
Thanks, forgot about this video.... 1500 views boy I never thought that would happen. Well I just finished my 24th year and the Dr. has told me to find a less straining job....... so my time on the Tarmac is coming to an end soon. I am not leaving the company but rather pursuing other avenues. I am glad to have made the video as it does remind me of my favorite part of my job. I also remember my first ever Pushback way back in 1990 a DC-8-73 Freighter just like it was yesterday. But my most favorite was the 747 now that's a Lady!! Ish funny you should mention working commercial...... being on this side I would love to be doing the Military stuff. Just remember one thing The grass might look greener on the other side of the fence...... thats because it's Astro turff. Cheers Emil
