US Navy Deck Tractor Colours - early 1980's

Hi

I am building a VF-161 F-4S flying from Midway in the early 1980's. I have a Verlinden MD-3 deck tractor with a compressor starter set on the back. Should it be painted white or yellow - I have seen pictures of the tractor with both schemes?

in '79-'80 on the Coral Sea they were yellow except for a couple that were painted "fancy". One was stars and stripes and another was flamed. I think that one was still yellow but it had a red and orange flame job.

I've got a Midway book at home. I'll take a look and see if I can find a picture from that time frame.

Hello All,

I've got a few pics here from my Midn. 1st Class Cruise on the Midway from 80' and they were still yellow then. I think they changed it to white in the later 80's because of better night visibility (IF I remember correctly!).
