Julien (UK)
Can any tell what mark of sidewinders these are? and what the adapter between the missile and the pylon is? another view here: http://www.cloud9photography.us/Military-Aviation-10/Douglas-A-4-Skyhawk-Military/4761151_27sWsP/1366769932_TmRcnds#!i=1366769932&k=TmRcnds&lb=1&s=A Seems a strange load out Bullpup, Napalm pod, Sidewinder. Any ideas as to why? some sort of testing? Thanks Julien
Joe Hegedus
Looks like an AIM-9B with a cover on the seeker (from the other pics in the link). Given the location and time (Lemoore, '67) and the fact that it's a fleet bird, I'd guess and airshow load. THe adapter between the LAU-7 and the pylon is an ADU-299. In 1/72, you can get the LAU/ADU combination in the Esci early Harriers (AV-8A, Sea Harrier FRS.1), and in 1/48 it is included in the Hasegawa A-4 kits.
