vince14
Here's my second entry to the Group Build - the Monopost 1/20 Mercedes W01, which was raced in the 2010 Formula One World Championship by Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg. The original car: The box: The contents: The decals - yes, there are seven decals sheets..... Vince
White Wolf
7 sheets of decals! That has to be a record for any kit.
Bigasshammm
Oooooo yea. Is that nose warped or is it just me? This is going to be very cool. And by no means easy.
Charlie Cheetah
Nice, will be watching this one with interest. Would love to invest into one of these multimedia kits some day.
vince14
Just a quick update - after a lot of sanding, filing and drilling I'm getting to the point where I'm almost ready to start applying the primer layers. Here's a quick mock-up shot I took as I was checking everything fits correctly. Vince
HOLMES
Vince. Oooh sexy...MY favorite Formula 1 driver{ Schuey} and you are making a model of his ride..Yayyyyy. just seeing the mock up I know this is gonna be a super duper build.. way to go Vince.
vince14
Well I've managed to get this to the stage where it's almost complete - although I don't have much time left before the end of the GB to finish it as I'm away for a lot of November. The painting went fine but the decals....well, they were thick, didn't want to adhere and, in a fair few cases, were the wrong size. Coupled with the shear number of them (the TV camera on top of the car consisted of no less than 10 separate decals), and that location detail in the instructions was poor, it's a miracle it's got this far.... Apologies for the poor quality of the pics - I had the wrong light on for taking pics. Bigasshammm
Man that cockpits nice. Does it have the phantom pewter/grey/silver decals also like the revell kit? Looks really good either way. I need to get a mm kit.
Shawn M
wowza! You gonna knock this out before the deadline?

I need to get a mm kit. Yes, it had those decals - it's just a shame that some of them were the wrong shape and size... I only build F1 in 1/20, which is why I got the Monopost version, but if I just wanted a Mercedes W01 and wasn't bothered about scale then I'd go for the Revell version, as I think that's probably a more enjoyable build. vince14
wowza! You gonna knock this out before the deadline? I hope so - I have to get it completed before Friday because then I'm going to be away for three weeks. It's not that far from completion now, just need to sort out the front suspension (much cursing ahead) and then bring it all together. Vince
vince14
Right - bit of a rushed finish but here it is. As I said before, if all I wanted was a Mercedes W01 and wasn't bothered about scale I'd go for the 1/24 Revell kit. It would be a nicer build and much, much, much cheaper! Bigasshammm
Looks good. May have to build my revell soon. A boring scheme but they make it look decent. Nice job.
Shawn M
Very nice Vince! Dont forget to post in the finished thread.
Shooterf15
Vince, that looks great! Quick question...what paint did you use for the brass-gold-ish color on your suspension? Thanks.
vince14
It was Mr. Color Gold, I'll look up the exact name & number when I get back home (which will be the first week of December). Vince
