Hi,

I'm a member of airlinercafe.com for a long time and have never posted here on ARC before. Here some pictures of my current 747-build. This project is going on for 2 years now. More pictures will follow as soon there is any progress.

Absolutely wonderfull. I'm also curious about the shallow panel lines. I just finished a DC-10 that I would have LOVED to finish it anywhere NEAR this 747. IMPRESSIVE!!!

Take Care

The passenger windows are self made with clear window frame decals.

For the panel lines I used a razor blade after the paint is dry. Then I did some lines with a pencil but very very light without any force. You can wipe along the lines with your finger and the color of the pencil will remain in the lines made with the razor blade. The result is a very sharp line which comes close to the real thing. The kit-panel lines of the Revell 744 are way to heavy and I filled them with putty.

As I also paint cars, I use 2K-car clear coat for the top coat. Adding some dulling agent will allow you to adjust the gloss to get a satin finish as well.

@Toni: Did you receive my last PM?

Chris,

could you give more information on the engine fans? They look absolutely marvelous  I have been wanting to do something similar on my a319, but so far haven't figured how to do them so far. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks :) Jan, I did my own PE parts etching every single blade and other details of the engines. Biggest problem was the blade positioning to get it accurate. Wasn't easy and I pondered a long time how to do it but now it is ok and for my satisfaction.

@viper 494: The pictures represent the current state of progress, just finished the 4 engines. I am currently working on the horizontal stabs.

Cuprar, as I want to maintain my current accuracy level I think this will last another year at least if not longer. I have to scratch build the whole landing gear. And this will be one of the work-intensive chapters of this build. But I also can't wait to get it finished :)
