Some Hasegawa pictures from the Japan Hobby Show

Thanks for sharing. It looks like they are finally making an attempt to updatie their old two seater F-15 to make a proper Strike Eagle. I shudder to think what the price will be, though. It may do well in Japan, but outside of there it will be a tough sell against the Revell F-15E, or even the latest boxing of the Academy kit , with its full weapons load.

Not a proper strike eagle if that is the only new sprue, though.

I think the proper pylons for the bombs are included on that sprue as well,as the old ones.

I'm not familiar with the 1/48 one, but the 1/72 scale F-15E had the old F-15B instrument panels. But the updated release had a new sprue with the correct instrujments.

On another note, Hasegawa announced a new tool 1/72 V-22 Osprey for spring 2013.

Platz too although can't find the scale. And Italeri reissuing their by year end.

Unless Italeri do a massive retool, it'll still represent a prototype.

Bring on the Hasegawa, I say!

Cheers,

Andre

Which also brings into question if the Platz one is a rebox of the Italeri one. Since we know Italeri reboxes some of the platz UAV kits.

How convenient with a new Osprey since I decided to give my Italeri MV-22 away to a model building boy at the first possible momen. I finally told myself that I would not have the energy required to make it up to scratch - and I already built it when it first came out (as a teenager I thought it was a really cool kit). I´d prefer one in 1/48 though.. I guess I´d have to sell a kidney or two to afford one from Hasegawa if they'd release it in 1/48..

Nice to see the sprues from the Typhoon, although by the looks of them it's not any great improvement over the Revell kit. There doesn't appear to be any intakes beyond what Revell have provided and they have only included the closed engine nozzles. The seat is pants, the APU exhaust is as bad as Revell's, and the more I look at those Storm Shadows the more I don't like them as well. The front end is far too square and far too blunt.

Kudos however for including all the stores pylons (including the MFRLs inboard pylons and, it appears, the centreline pylon) and for being the first company to supply Brimstone in plastic, which although not currently carried by Typhoon can be used on Tornado GR4. I also like how the pilot appears to have the new HMSS helmet. The ECS exhaust at the base of the fin also looks a bit better than Revell.

Overall, I don't see enough to make me want to pay the frankly eye-watering price that this has been given in the UK (£40 for a 1/72 jet!), however if I like what I see when I get a proper rummage through the sprues I may import one...

I was inside an Osprey last weekend. If you think you can scratchbuild an interior for that thing you must be mad. Mad as Mad Jack McMad, the winner of last year's "Mr. Madman" competition. It would take you hours just to photograph the real thing to a level where you can start thinking about building it.

I'm talking about all the other ways the Hasegawa "E" model is really a D model. If they don't re-do the rest, it's still a "D" with some updated "E" bits thrown in.
