shagohad
This is the beginning build of the 1/144 Bandai First Grade Justice Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam Seed/Destiny. I have already begun to scribe panel lines, snd add extra plastic detail. The aim is to get the first grade kit to look like real grade kit! shagohad
Update to the Justice build. Hands are from Gunpla Builders Parts Hands MS hands (ESFS version). I know that technically they are the wrong hands for the Seed Cosmic Era but hey look good none the less and are a huge improvement form the kit supplied ones! I've done the most work on the legs and still have a ways to go. Before After Mock up Until next time..... Edited November 8, 2012 by shagohad
shagohad
More detail to the front skirt and rear. Just plasticard glued together in sections. First build up the basic design in shapes and layers... then glue in place. Same for the rear. Until next time......

shagohad
My Paints came yesterday. They are lacquers from Gaia; custom colors for Gundams. I'm still waiting on the blue and red as will mix my own custom purples for the Phantom Pack and detail in the legs and skirt. They are also from Gaia. My O Bolts came today and I couldn't wait to try them out I also started to do a little detail on the shoulder panels. I used a 2mm mini chisel to carve out the depression. The chisel is from Micro Mark. That's all for now......... Edited December 3, 2012 by shagohad
HOLMES
That is coming along quite nicely.. Good bit of chiseling work there. really lovely work Edited November 12, 2012 by HOLMES
shagohad
Thanks for the comments! I really appreciate it! I finally finished with all upgrades, conversions, and additions to this kit! I wanted to do more with the chest piece but I figure I will bring the detail out with paints instead.I think it looks great! The next step will be to prime it, hope to get started tonight! Here's a preview of things to come..... Edited December 3, 2012 by shagohad
HOLMES
oh MY GOD! That is taking shape quite IMRESSIVELY and that color scheme is just SPLENDID and TOP NOTCH WORKMANSHIP... :worship: Edited November 12, 2012 by HOLMES
shagohad
Primer coat applied.I use Krylon Gray Primer straight from the can for all my priming jobs!I have used all other kinds of primer paints and next to Mr. Surfacer 1000,this stuff is the best! It flows smooth, self levels, seals (helps hide surface scratches) and dries very fast. I ran out of Krylon prior to finishing the hands and shoulder spikes so I had to resort to Testor's Enamel Primer. As you can see it is terrible I will have to strip the paint then apply the correct primer. The Gaia paints are lacquers so it wouldn't work anyway. The rest of my paints also arrived today. I won't get any painting done probably until the weekend because I will let the primer cure for a few days. See you soon!
xavi84
This looks great so far. I build a few gundams when I was in high school and this build makes me want to try my hand at building one again.
shagohad
@ Xavi84 you should give it another try! I have almost completely stopped modeling aircraft and dioramas to satisfy my Gunpla addiction! I just can't stop!! I started the first round of painting today. I decided against doing the heavy preshading like I did with my Blast Impulse Gundam And just went with the basecoat, Mr. Color #63 Pink instead of the Gaia Brilliant Pink. I think it was a closer match to the box art. I did do some post shading with white added to the base color for contrast and dept. Base coat only With post shading You really can't tell by the photos but it is very subtle and makes a difference. Once I add the oil wash I think it will show more. Any suggestions as to what color oil paint I should use for the panel lines? I think black would be too harsh and unrealistic so maybe raw sienna or gray? Next step is to do the chest piece and V-fin. Later!!

shagohad
Hello again and thanks for viewing this post, I have begun to add an oil wash on most of the model to bring out all that panel line detail I painstakingly had to go through! I also began to add the decals from Model Decals Easy Decals 1/144 RG 09 ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam. They are made for the Real Grade kit but who's countin'! Still a lots left... Until next time!! shagohad
This is an update to the WIP. I managed to get most of the decals on (it must have been a hundred or so...just kidding but it was a lot!!) I also did more work on the oil wash but there are still areas that need touch ups. I also did some small detail painting to the shoulder spikes and face. Without the Phantom Pack... Almost done!!
