fulcrum1
We'll see more of this. Everyone seems to be reading the tea leaves the same way with budget cuts.
Jay Chladek
I'm actually surprised that the management jobs are the first cuts as typically the mid-level bureaucrats are the ones that usually find ways to stick around.

Where have you been working for the last 20 years? In my experience, upper mgmt looks after their own, if you start seeing SVP's and directors get chopped, that typically means the company will be in Ch 11 shortly. The lower end guys are either protected by unions or are actually needed to do work that generates revenue. The guys in the middle typically make somewhat decent $, have accumulated a good package of vacation / sick time and if you cull 30% of them, you can just force the survivors to work even harder since they are scared sh**-less that they will be next. 11bee
We'll see more of this. Everyone seems to be reading the tea leaves the same way with budget cuts. In BA's case, these cuts are on the defense side. Why would this be unexpected? The F-15 program is struggling to find international customers, the Superhornet program is winding down and the C-17 program is pretty much wrapped up. Having lost the JSF, they have pretty much nothing in the pipeline to replace these huge projects. This is the way it has always been in the defense sector. On a positive note, BA is hiring on the commercial aircraft side of the house.

ST0RM
Figured the regulars would hesitate to chime in on this. I wasnt disapointed. With Boeing pulling out of Wichita and Lock-Mart behind on a few projects, this stinks for those on the chopping block. Merry Christmas! scapilot
I'm still here on the F-35 line, and we've heard talks about lay off notices, but the company is trying to stall as long as they can to avoid all the sequestration garbage. I've got three years here so far, so hopefully I'll be alright considering that I came in during a huge push for inspection and production back in the end of 09'. They're finally about 95% done with construction on this assembly line in the plant, and they're still waaaaaay undermanned to go full production at this rate, so I'm not too concerned, however...nothing from Capital Hill surprises me anymore, so we'll see what happens. Until then, here's to a few more F-35's!!!
