Adam Baker
In my collection, like mentioned by others, I very rarely pay retail price for anything I buy. I usually get them in classifieds postings, store sales, ebay, etc. I've also traded for quite a few.
bashace
I'm a sucker for a good deal, so when you guys go through a stash reduction sale, my stash gets bigger. And i think I have some sort of OCD.
Camus272
Here's my stash: I believe that's 151 kits. I think I've added two more since the photo. Hopefully I can stabilize it now with built kits slightly outpacing any additions. As for the economics of it, this collection has been 13 years in the making. I probably average something like $50 a month on the hobby (not too excessive imo)- mostly going to supplies and decals. Some things like a spray booth bring up that number once in a while, but it is really the decals and aftermarket additions that add up the most cost. Brian
zeus60
Okay, as promised, here is mine. I took everything out of the various closets where it was stored. It was more work then I thought it would be, but it gives me a chance to clean out the closets, and also take a current count. There are a couple of bagged kits and a few 54mm figures that didn't make it, but this is most of it. This is the first set of photos. The next post will show the rest. zeus60
Part two: As I took each photo, I moved the kits to the other room. These four photos show that room after all but the last batch had been moved. The final count was 611. It was about 800 a few years ago. Stacey
fasteagle12
I never tire of seeing threads like this B)/> Just a question, not a criticism at all, but don't you guys who specialise in one type get tired of building the same kit? It's not my fault. I have to have multiple kits to put all of those newer cool decals on.
scapilot
Do some of you actually plan to live long enough to build 611 kits??? lol. I built 15 this year, and that was at a pretty steady pace. At that rate, I'd have to build at this pace until I was nearly 73 to finish 611 kits, because it's gonna take roughly 41 years.
Bigasshammm
Some people collect coins. We collect plastic. At least for the most part depending on how you acquire them you stand to get most of your money back if you ever decide to sell.

No, I don't expect to live that long, which is one of the reasons I have fewer than a couple of years ago. Except for some of the figure kits, nothing in my stash is close to being collectable. But when I look at each kit, I think to myself, "That is going to be so much fun to build!". And as Bigasshammm said, collecting is part of the hobby. CorsairMan
I have about 50 now... I doubt I will get to them all! But the fun will be in trying.
rightwinger26
All of these pictures are giving me stash inferiority complex, I only have about 40 or so. But I always do enjoy looking through a new box then putting it in the closet

When I first found this site after getting back into the hobby, I could point to these sorts of threads and tell my wife "see, I'm not nearly as bad or crazy as THOSE guys!" when she'd ask me if I really needed another kit. Now I think I'm one of THOSE guys! :) Mike

I've been modeling for years, just a slow collector
scapilot
AFter my splurge purchase for Black Friday through squadron, I was able to acquire 10 more kits. My total is now at 43, however only 33 of those are actually ones that I purchased for my own interest. The other 10 are commision jobs that are in the queue to be built. Iain 32nd
Oh go on then... Taken last March - a few more since then - with apologies to those that may have seen some of the stash before. But not for unaccompanied minors though! Goes without saying - mostly 1:32 and excluding the pile of vacs in the garage mezzanine and some 'on the go' stuff... Something tells me I really ought to think about having a clear-out Part 2 in a mo... Iain Edited December 5, 2012 by Iain 32nd

Ishthe47guy
It was bound to happen... I've resigned myself to working over here till economic conditions allow me to realistically get a job back home, so, of course, since there's only going to be 300 of these kits per, figured I had to get mine while the getting was good, no matter where in the worlds I may be...
