pminer
Anybody had any experience with 1001 Model Kits? Spent some money with them....no orders yet. No emails...no word. Just wondering.... Edited November 16, 2012 by pminer
DBB69
I'm having dealings with them and they are pissing me off bad, I ordered some paint from them almost 2 months ago, hasn't gotten here yet, called them at least twenty times, no one answers. you have to leave a message, and every five messages I left were more and more heated, and still they don't call back. emailed them 4 times and it always came back unable to deliver and I know I read the email address right on there website a hundred times. I'm just about to open a paypal dispute. NEVER will I order from these stupid people again.

Just a tad bit too good to be true. Thought I'd trust them though. Their website looks pretty legit. Keep me in the loop. I want to hear what happens with you. Youngtiger1
I ordered from this outfit recently and all I can say that I won't be doing that again.
SpitfireGuy
Well I am glad I read this thread. I was thinking about doing buisness with them. I had a bad feeling about them anyway and I am not sure why but despite the somehwat legit website I did not feel good about it. Went so far as to add stuff to my cart but bailed before puling the trigger. Glad I dad. Sorry y'all got potentially taken but I thanks for the heads up! Zach

pminer
I ordered from this outfit recently and all I can say that I won't be doing that again. Ok...I opened up a dispute about my order on PayPal. I *immediately* got a response from 1001 Models. LOL...imagine that. They simply sent me an email saying that the "order has not yet been shipped. We'll contact you when it has". LOL...ya think? I already know that. I sent them a reply telling them that they need to do a better job in communicating! We'll see what happens. Here's their email addresses. I copied & pasted both from their webiste and confirmed them on their PayPal page. The emails have not been returned. contact@1001modelkits.com contact@1001maquettes.fr Happy disputing!! Paul
Youngtiger1
Funny that Paul. I received a similar message when I tried to cancel my order. I asked since its not shipped cancel it please. I was told, its coming from overseas. I waited over a month for a stupid decal sheet which I though I was ordering it within US. Anyway, learned my lesson and no more. Good luck with your order or refund.
ThudDriver
I don't like my card/Pay Pal etc. being charged before the item ships. Charge me when it ships or offer a discount for using my funds to run your business... If the item is not in stock, I/we shouldn't be the ones paying for the item on behalf of the seller that we bought it from. "Don't cash my check until you ship the goods". If 1001 models or any other company takes someone's money 20 times a month without having the goods in stock, that can add up to allot of "free operating" funds.... Just my thoughts Frank C. Youngtiger1
It was shipped 24 days after I placed my order and funny thing I was charged $6 plus cents for shipping for one sheet and it still took over a week to deliver. Yes, do have my sheet but I won't be ordering an other even if its at huge sale.

scapilot
FYI Lucky Model is the same. Need to get on th horn with them from an order placed in March..... Geez, March?? Was it a pre-order item that still hasn't dropped?? I would think after about two weeks after the item is shown to be in stock I'm going to start blowing some doors in. Otto
International orders can be strange I have received some in less than a week and some took 60 days, even though they were sent within days of being ordered. I ordered n Eduard PE set from Australia over a month ago and still have not seen it.

I don't mind waiting if something is coming from overseas. They just need to keep me in the loop...as in daily! And keep tracking info on their website. Like they say they will!! I don't know these guys. They need to do a far better job communicating. Amen!? Paul

scotthldr
pminer: do you honestly expect to be kept informed on a daily basis of your order status? Although I agree that the service you say you've had so far is far from satisfactory and their apparent lack of communication is inexcusable I think your expectations are too high. When I order from the United States(and I do on a regular basis)I give the outlet 2 weeks to ship the item/s before contacting them, most of the time this never happens as the items are sent way before. You'll also find that most businesses and not just modelling related ones either, will charge your account at time of order and not shipment unless the item is due to be out of stock for a while, although if it's a special order then expect your account to be debt at time of order as well. Yougtiger1: As 1001 Model Kits are located in France I would suspect that is where your decal sheet was sent from, so $6.00 for postage and a week to deliver is hardly too much or too long. It takes 5-7 days for mail to arrive in the UK from France. But going by the posts on here 1001 Model kits seem to be best avoided and I hope you receive your money back. Youngtiger1
Scott, you are correct if the items is being mailed from out of Stats (for me) it will take week or longer. Your 100% correct, however, unless there is 609 Laura Lane, Springdale, Arizona 72762 is in France, then I'm guilty as charged and I will apologize to 1001 Modelkits for my comments. I still have the heavy card envelope the decal sheet was sent in and the address was/is in US.

Any online vendor that practices excellent customer service and cares about doing an honest business will have a tracking tool for orders on their website. Amazon...eBay...Revell...Squadron and GNC all have this just to name a few. At any time you can access your order and track it's progress....even if there is no progress. 1001 Models *said* you could track your order...but it (mine) never showed up on their website. Also..I had to find out through ARC that 1001 Models orders their inventory from International sources. But yet...they charged my credit card. So yes....daily updates are not unreasonable especially if the CC has already been charged.

Also...the US side of 1001 Models is not in France. It's based in Tontitown, Arkansas. It plainly states this on their US website and that shipments are made from the US. Their customer Service number is a 617 area code. This is the area code for Boston Mass. in the US. The claim of "US order delivery" is what sold me on them. Yet...I find out from ARC that none of the claims on their website is true. I.E...it's all really international. Remind me again why we shouldn't hold them accountable...especially if they've already charged the CC?
scotthldr
So what you're saying is 1001 Models kits are based in the US in Arkansas, and Boston and even Springdale Az, they even have a outlet in France?????? That info on it's own would've made me suspicious about ordering from them. I didn't say they aren't accountable as clearly they are as they've charged your account for the goods. What I said was expecting to be notified on a daily basis to the status of your order is expecting rather a lot, especially when the order hasn't been dispatched and what is the point of checking these online tracking tools if they don't update the information on them, once the item has been dispatched then obviously you can track the package. However this doesn't change the fact that their customer service is nothing but a disgrace for not returning calls or emails or informing the customer/s of a continued delay in them processing your order for whatever reason. As i said I hope you get your money back and are able to get your goods from a reputable outlet.

One of my products has shipped. Imagine that... LOL!! This has been a ongoing discovery of how this outfit works. I only found out they were international after the fact. Here...on ARC. By then the trigger had been pulled. My CC had been charged. About having a notification tool on their website? It's called good business. If you shop online anybody can get taken for a ride easily these days. If you're an online vendor....you know people are still a little skiddish about internet orders....especially from a newcomer like 1001. There's a lot of money to be made online and because of Social Media, a companies' reputation can go down in flames in a matter of hours. This thread is an example. It's just smart to be "beyond reproach" online. Take care!
