I would need an addition on my house to fit the thing. It would dwarf my Jeep...

Not to mention I would need a loan just to purhcase it.

I love your vision but the logistics seem a little impossible.

Zach

Well, in 1/48 and for Endeavour, it would make 77.58cm lenght, 49,56cm for wingspan and 35,94cm height. It would sure make a big baby but not so huge after all. The 737-200 in 1/72 measures 42.33x39.38x15.66, smaller but not a lot. And someone above suggested a Galaxy in 1/72th, it would make 104.91cm lenght, 94.28cm for wingspan and 27.57cm height. A lot bigger.

For the price, I think it would be around the price of the recent 1/72th B737-200, around $100 or maybe $150. But I think the main problem would be the asking of the market : would a compagny sell a lot of 1/48th Space Shuttle ? I don't know. Maybe not. So I think that you are right, such a kit will certainly remain a nice dream. ;)

The February show at the Museum of Flight had a surprising amount of spurious models present and I left thinking there would be a market for some high quality kits.Such as theHawker P.1154Hawker P.1121McDonnell F3H-G/HLockheed CL-288-1Northrop N-149SR.177YF-17Swept wing SkynightEtc. Insert favorite scale here (mine is 1:48)

For real world stuff, I'll echo the call for the British early-ish jets, the Banshee series, the Grumman Cougar, MiG-25 series, and twin jet Yak 27/28s.

Edit: silly mobile device goofed up my lists....will fix it later when I have access to a real computer; I am sorry for the mumbo-jumbo above.
