Trumpeter replacement parts

Recommended Posts

  • 4 months later...

I just discovered an issue with my Crusader build. I require replacement parts. As alluded to in another post, I sent a PM to Song with my concerns. I have also sent a note to info@modelcraft.com as Modelcraft are the Canadian distributor for Trumpeter models. Let's see what happens.

I contacted Stevens International for a replacement part... I was told they did not have the part on hand and that they had to place an order for the part with Trumpeter, which may take 'several months'. I am currently waiting 4 months & I really do not expect to receive the part anytime soon, if at all.

Aren't you a ray of sunshine... :woot.gif:

I'm not really holding my breath either based on a couple of other posts in other threads. I'm hoping to be able to make do with what I have (and don't have) but we'll see how that turns out.

Thanks for the heads up, M-J.

Where did you buy the kit from? I tried contacting Stevens a couple of years back for a missing wheel on a 1/32 F-7 and they basically told me I was SOL. Hopefully they've improved their Trumpeter customer service. I've had better luck with Squadron - I called them one time because I was missing a sprue and they sent me a replacement.

Therein lies the problem. I didn't buy it. I received it as a gift. I have no idea where it was originally purchased.

The importer. www.stevenshobby.com in US

GOOD LUCK getting anything out of Stevens International!! They are about as crooked a bunch as I've seen anywhere anyplace at anytime! Nobody I ever ran into has ever had the slightest luck getting any help from that bunch! Their staff are rude and not very customer orientated. So remember to open every Trumpeter box in the store you bought from, and make the dealer make it good or give you your money back. Cause you ain't gettin' nothing out of them.

Had a 1/32 scale Tomcat that didn't have the instructions or decales in the box. All I wanted was the instructions anyway, and it's now been 28 months after I first contacted Stevens. I even went so far as to send emails directly to Trumpeter, and the only thing I got out of them was Chinese spam! Of course I also have been waiting for 18 months on Tamiya to send me props and spinners for two BF109's. They'd been cut off the spru's. Not much in love with Tamiya as well

I just received a reply from my e-mail to Modelcraft, the Canadian distributor for Trumpeter models. Although it was not what I wanted to hear, I can't fault the distributor for the manufacturer's practices. Here is an excerpt from the response I received from Modelcraft moments ago.

"Trumpeter ( LIke most plastics companies) only makes enough parts to exact their production. There are NO spares." I have thanked Modelcraft for their very prompt response to my message (next business day).

Further, I should have clarified this in my first post. I had requested replacement parts for my model but not because of something that Trumpeter or the importer did or didn't do. I received this kit as a gift and some assembly had already been started. Engine parts had been glued together and then removed / broken away from that assembly. I was asking Modelcraft if there was a possibility of buying a replacement sprue in order to build the model with kit parts instead of using aftermarket parts that might not be available. While I can appreciate that some folks may have had negative issues with this importer or that manufacturer, I have had neither with this kit, this manufacturer or distributor. I consider the matter closed form my perspective and now it's on to determine how to build this kit with what I have available to me.

That seems a bit odd to me. I don't think any manufacturer realistically produces "spares" but I think what happens is when they get a defected mold or damaged box or something they retain that kit in storage and then pick spares from it. So from what they're saying it sounds like trumpeter basically sells everything it produces whether it be damaged, flawed, or not. Great quality control there.
