New Year' Resolutions for 2013

Recommended Posts

I would like to know if there is anyone who would like to post what model aircraft they intend on putting together for the year 2013. It will be interesting to return to this thread in December of 2013 to review who met their goals.

I will start:

1) Hasegawa 1/72 F-16A

2) Minicraft 1/144 MD-80

I've got two on the for sure list:

1) The 1/48 TF-104 won during the christmas raffle. It will be finished in the German Air Force colors.

2) 1/48 T-2 Buckeye finished as the VT-9 bird my dad carrier qualified in.

I'll probably start a 1/48 P-38J if I finish the 104 in time and I'll be finishing a P-40 that's already started.

It doesn't seem like much but I'm only at home a few days a month due to work.

Considering I finished a grand total of ZERO models in 2012 I have a lot of catching up to do.

I have a T-34C Turbo Mentor that is 85% complete ,

A T-2C Buckeye that is 45% complete,

An F-8 Crusader that is 75% complete,

And multiple F-14's that are in several stages.

Uh, that would be 1/144 and you need not concern yourself with that. Your concern should be with the 1/200 Hasegawa 777-300 I purchased last month that will both dethrone and destroy you at next year's Modelzona !

Well then do it. Let's see some more commitment out of you.

I can get you some nice snap-tight kits for Christmas to help you get into the swing of things. They won't count towards the 2013 builds, though. :cheers:/>

Yeah, and speaking of commitment, where is your list for 2013?

You already know I'll build something. But I can't really say what I'm gonna build until I start building it. Right now I can only specify what models I'll finish in 2013...not which ones I'll start.

I'll definitely finish:

  1. 1/48 Monogram F-20 WHIF
  2. 1/48 Hasegawa F-2A
  3. 1/200 Hasegawa L-1011

Edit: I will start and finish that 1/72 Hasegawa F-16B for the AZ ANG group build, of course.

After that, though, who knows? But I'll definitely start 2 or 3 more. Maybe I'll build some of those WWII planes that I've got.

  • 2 weeks later...

I posted on my facebook that I'd like to build 6 models in the coming year. I think I can be successful as I have a few projects unfinished. I had been doing digital art over the past year and lost my modeling drive but that's back now. Although those 'builds' are probably more 'finish building' but it still counts.

So the planned projects, all in 1/72:

Hasegawa Spitfire VIII RAAF

Hasegawa A6M2b (hope to finish before new year though)

Hasegawa Beaufighter IV NF

Hasegawa Bf 109-G6

Fujimi F-4J Phantom II

?????? - Unsure of the last one actually. Finishing the Phantom will be a big one as haven't build and large models for a very long time. Maybe another Hasegawa Fw 190 or Hasegawa P-51B.

Hopefully after May, I'll have some time to work on some plastic.

1. 1/48 Revell F-14 Tomcat

2. 1/48 Revell F/A-18E Super Hornet

3. 1/72 Hasegawa F-11F

4. 1/72 Academy Tempest

5. a 1/48 of any of these: Italeri EA-18G, Revell F-15E, or Tamiya F-16C Blk 52

If I can actually get a break in building for others, then I plan to knock out some stuff in my personal stash. If I catch a little break around the summer time I plan to knock out

1:32 Tamiya F-16CJ

1:48 Italeri C-130J

1:48 KH F-35B

1:48 Revell B-17G or B-24J (one of the two)

1:48 Italeri OH-58D

I want to change things up a bit this year. I built primarily modern fighters all this year, with the exception of three versions of UAV's, and a couple of trainers. I think this year I want to make it "Year of the big, and old", hence, building some bigger kits, and older style planes. I still have the Revell B-1 lurking in my closet, and I'm afraid every time I look at it. lol. I enjoy building the larger subjects though. Nothing like throwing some plastic around without having to worry so much if little pieces are just going to fly off and hit the ceiling. I definitely like my commission work, but a lot of it becomes the same after a while, and I want to build some of my stuff that I've had the pleasure of stocking up on over the past six months.

ANYTHING!!

I'll second that!

On a different note, I'd like to start building the plethora of aircraft related to the Falklands/ Malvinas war. I even managed to get hold of an old Airfix Canberra and now the BPK Boeing 737-200. Decals are on hand, so...

By the way, how on earth can someone finish 53 (!) kits in 52 weeks??? :woot.gif: Great job, Nicholas
