CorsairMan
I read Crusade not long ago. Neat book about the Gulf War. It painted the general in 2 lights - one as a bit of a prima donna and the other as a guy who managed and got results. The book did detail a number of his soft qualities in terms of keeping a coalition together and effective. Seemed to me he was the right guy at the right time in the right place. He really did a great job, but boy he did not make life easy on those around him. Well worth it though, the victor in one of the most lopsided fights in history. JB2013
First time I saw him in action, and the Persian Gulf War, from television was when I was in the First grade at an elementary school. Now I found this post about his passing at my base ..... My condolences to his family, friends, and those who served under his command then.
Jinxter13
In today's world that word hero is sometimes taken out of context.....However in this case it truly applies, as he was just that in the truest sense of the word; as he led by example and took no credit that wasn't due. Godspeed Gen. Schwarzkopf and my your next journey peaceful and uneventful as you have most assuredly earned that and more.
Wayne S
RIP Crappy picture I took a few years back. He lives on, tho in 1/35 scale, in this modelers house
Julien (UK)
Really enjoyed his autobiography, "It Doesn't Take A Hero" Great book about a great leader. An excellent book, A great man, I was sorry to hear he died and not that old really. George Bush Snr words were very nice, and considering he is also very sick shows the calibre of the man that he would take time for him. Julien
