zerosystem
do the Ravens ever get any helmet to helmet, holding or interference calls made against them?
JB2013
Well, looks like the 49ners lost their initiative and Baltimore wins the Super Bowl XLVII. It was a tight game: 34 to 31 Edited February 4, 2013 by Jack Bogart

TaiidanTomcat
Great no call on that last Niners play. Eating the penalty flag on that obvious interference call saved the NFL 6 months of grief about a power outage suddenly giving San Fran an obviously much needed breather. It was a different ball game after the outage. There would have been hell to pay if the Niners pulled that out.
GreyGhost
Well, I enjoyed the game for the most part ... (Wasn't rooting for either team in particular) Congrats to the 49ers for getting there and bigger congrats to the Ravens for winning it ... -Gregg Edited February 4, 2013 by GreyGhost
TomcatFanatic123
Not a fan of either team, but I do enjoy great football. I also think that a non-call on the Crabtree play late in the 4th was absolutely correct. Great job of officiating. When I saw the play live, I thought "jeezus...throw a damned flag!", but after I saw the replay, both players were getting grabby there, so it was a great job by the officials to just let that go and let the players decide the game. RiderFan
Some trivia for you. Baltimore is the only city to have won both a Grey Cup and a Super Bowl.

I still disagree. I also thought the refs went out of their way to not be a factor. blowback from Super Bowl XL? Its not a bad thing we don't want to be talking about the refs monday morning, but at the same time not throwing a flag is just as bad in some cases. The other problem I have is 16 games called one way, and then a different set of rules in the post season that "lets the players play"

rustywelder
The no call was the right call. Crabtree himself said today that the pass was uncatchable. If you watch the replay it is about 2 feet too high and even if he had got hold of it he would of landed 3 feet into the chalk. No ref in any game throws that flag. I agree that PI would have been a bad call as I don't think Crabtree could have pulled that down ala Santonio Holmes in SBXLIII. Joe Flacco is gonna be a rich dude! PNW_Modeler
Whatever you want to say about the officiating in that game.....I say New Orleans permanently loses the right to host the Super Bowl after that power outage fiasco. The Super Bowl is the largest U.S. sporting event of the year, and you allow that to happen? That was an embarrassment. I say if you want to have a truly neutral field, you play the Super Bowl in Hawaii every year. That way, no team has an advantage over the other, you are always guaranteed good weather....heck, you could even wrap the pro bowl into the week leading up to the Super Bowl....instead of the joke of a game now, you could have the pro bowlers compete in skills competitions during the week leading up to the Super Bowl and then Saturday afternoon hold a charity flag football game with the NFC pro bowlers playing against the AFC with a big donation going to the charity of winning conference's choosing. Bam! Problem solved....you are welcome Roger!
TaiidanTomcat
No ref in any game throws that flag. If you have been watching the NFL you will see that refs call (or don't call) some wildly inconsistent PI penalties. I think even you can concede that. Furthermore, AS THE RULE IS WRITTEN I thought the DB was allowed to get all touchy feeling for five yards and then he has to stop. 49ers were 5 yards from the end zone and the Ravens was still pretty hands on in the endzone. I'm no mathematician, but thats more than five yards. Its all history now, the officiating in the regular season is different than the post season thats not a secret: In any other game shoving a ref will get you ejected. I have seen players (Steve Smith) touch a ref and get ejected. No ref wants to eject a critical player and the kind of heat that brings. PI Is all subjective.. Congratulations to Joe Flacco for having the same amount of Raven's Rings as Trent Dilfer. :taunt:/> I was underwhelmed at the 9ers Defense. Culliver seemed to think that if you talked enough trash, Right down to getting in the punters face after the "safety dance" You didn't have to do wacky things like play defense. The 9ers seemed determined to give up the big play, again and again but always get the last word. YOU WON. so don't worry what some Steelers fan on the internet says
TaiidanTomcat
hold a charity flag football game Geez Paul, between that and the probowl how many flag football games are they going to play?!
