VF-103, F-14B, 163217

Hello again

A question to the experts on VF-103, especially the last cruise and bird 103. I have red that as a result of a lot of night missions during the 2nd Gulf War the cockpits of the Tomcats involved were re-painted in "all-black" so that no irritating reflections would disturb the crew. Was AA103 affected by that activity as well? I am about to start the cockpit painting, so would really like to do it right!

thanks

Uwe

The cockpit was dark gull grey, only a handful of the Delta's had their cockpits painted black by VF-213 (and a few of those jets got passed to VF-31). No F-14A or B's had there cockpits painted black.

I believe only VF-31 and VF-213 had the black cockpits, as stated above.
